Suzuki's new 250

drum brakes are awful, especially when they get hot

Trust me, I know, I had dual drums on my 3rd bike. Couldn't stop for beans. I'm sad I have them on the rear of my 250. But, I was thinking maybe they wouldn't be too bad on a really little (light) bike, if servicing them wasn't terrible. They certainly are simpler in that you don't need to deal with hydraulics.

I am happy to see another entry level bike, albeit a rehash of an existing one. "Modern engine" in their blurb is a bit of a stretch. Air cooled 1-banger, but with FI - oh yeah that makes it modern then .

Why not bring over a GSXR250? There is a reason the Ninja250 sells so well - it is the kind of bike that the market wants.

As far as i know Suzuki hasnt made a GSXR 250 for quite a while.
