Wow I didn't realize highway 1 was 1700 miles long? Crazy. We rode from Monterey to San Simeon a few weeks back (100 miles) and it was slow going with traffic but I didn't care because it was gorgeous.

It's not, it ends at Leggett. The northern part of the ride described in the article is Highway 101 from Leggett up through Oregon.
