The Cigar Thread ( reviews, and fun)

Plenty of websites online where you can find instructions, it's actually easier than an actual humidor since you don't need to season a coolidor.

http://www.coolidor.com/

It's up to you how elaborate you want to get with your coolidor, I just saved a few cigar boxes, went to a local B&M store that I frequent, and they happily gave me a few empty boxes to help stuff my coolidor with. As far balancing the humidity, I use Heartfelt Beads (recommended by a few people on Barf).

Chris, time to make a coolerador. ;)
Yeah, yeah yeah I know!!! :laughing

Agreed with Mikey. There's more then one way to skin a cat on this.

I'm going to start a coolidor here soon. I gotta ask, whats the significance of using spanish ceder in the first coolidor, I know it could be a buffer. but since the foam is so breathable wouldn't that do the same?

The spanish cedar will retain humidity and do it with a cigarrific scent. Foam is OK but will get modly after a while.

I just use the cooler for cigar boxes. No spanish cedar, just some beads. Just wipe it out when you get it, let it dry, and then put sticks in. Couldn't be easier. :D

Hmm I have been stashing away some cigar boxes... Fuck it, I'm going cooler shopping this weekend.

I've been out of the cigar smoking business for a while. I was at the Occidental last night and ended up smoking a Padron Anniversario 1964. Just as good as I remembered. Maybe I should start breaking back into my stash...

My latest purchase to be smoked in the coming weeks.

Do you need the compressor for it the function properly as a humidor? I looked into this a while back and I can't remember whether the fridge actually has to be functional. You already have one don't you Eric? There's a website where you can also purchase custom cedar trays to replace the wine holders inside.

The problem for me is living in Antioch. I need to keep the temps down so I don't end up with a beetle problem. If I picked this up I'd probably look into repairing it. Oh yeah, I've got one already but it's full. So are the 3 desktops and the coolidor. To make things worse I spent a good chunk of my tax refund on a few new boxes that haven't arrived yet. Hhhmm....think I've got a problem?? :rofl I blame Ratters.

Yeah, I getr blamed for everything. And we need to hit the gun shop now that you've spent all your tax return. :teeth

Got gifted a 601 La Bomba by Rob at Casa Belicoso yesterday. Really looking forward to that stick, hopefully Saturday. Having a JdN Cabinetta lancero right now. This may be my favorite vitola of these.

Lol, I just sent a pm on that. I'll get out of the way if Chris wants it. Bad compressor though fyi.

I wouldn't bother with it for me. It has a compressor. I need one that is solid state so I can't hear it echo in the damn closet. :laughing

Nice haul, some very tasty treats you picked out.

So far I have only smoked the Churchill from the group. It was interesting to see how it burned. The ash maintained the same shape as the cigar. It was a nice draw and an even smoke down towards the last third, then it became more complex, changing flavor and aroma as it burned closer. Nice cigar.

Well I ran into a perfect deal... Couldn't pass it up. So the coolidor is on hold for now. On the 18th, I'll be ordering me a 30ct churchill pack. And a couple more things. I've got space for 90 cigars at the moment... :toothless
