The Electric Motorcycle Thread

Not sure what you mean.

Perhaps I misread the article. I interpreted it as they had no plans to recall what was out there but it didn't sound like they were going to continue with the program.
Frankly, I'd like to see them succeed.

Sometimes I watch Scotty Kilmers video he's always such a wacky guy

Haha that's what makes him interesting, some of the stuff he talks about is legit

Looks like LiveWire production is back on!

https://electrek.co/2019/10/18/harley-davidson-pauses-livewire-electric-motorcycle-production/

After completing rigorous analysis this week, we have resumed LiveWire production and deliveries. Customers may continue riding their LiveWire motorcycle and are able to charge the motorcycle through all methods. Temporarily stopping LiveWire production allowed us to confirm that the non-standard condition identified on one motorcycle was a singular occurrence. We take pride in our rigorous quality assurance measures and our drive to deliver the world’s best motorcycles.

We have confirmed that this was a singular occurrence on one motorcycle. Our rigorous analysis showed our strong quality assurance measures are working as designed. The findings also reaffirmed the strength of LiveWire’s technology and product design. Production has resumed and we are delivering to dealers.

I agree. Ironically, being kooky is trending these days. Yet, he was actually quite positive about it, which was surprising.

I was at San Jose BMW/Zero and I'm pumped about the SR/F. I'm still really happy with my 2015 SR.

@Killroy1999 @Kornholio, except for the title of that video there was nothing kooky or wrong in that video. What's the issue?

I cant decide if lack of DC Charging is that big of a deal or not on the SR/F. I doubt it's a touring bike.. I mean.. unless you're REALLY dedicated you're not about to tour/long distance on your electric motorcycle.

It's not what's being presented, it's how it's being presented and who's doing it.

I did a test ride on the SR/F, I found it rather uncomfy. Foot pegs up too high and not adjustable. Riding position too sporty, need to lift head up a bit. But the performance was great, scary fast in sport mode.

I am very happy with my 2020 Energica Esse Esse 9. Very comphy, no need to change anything. Charges to full in minutes on CCS (@25KW) and can still use J1772 (@ 3KW) or even 120 VAC (@1.5 KW) with the adapter it comes with (that I have never used). I also find the reverse to be handy. It also has a slow forward where 1.75 MPH is WOT. I purchased mine from CA Moto BMW in Mt. View and had them deliver it to me in Auburn.

You may find yourself unpumped about the Zero SR/F if you try out one of the Energicas.

Still the best looking electric motorcycle out. :twofinger

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Personally I think the Energica Ego is the best looking electric motorcycle out there. I just wish my old back would have let me go with that one instead of my Esse Esse 9 but I have no regrets.

I give my vote to the red Ego also. However, I don't buy bikes to look at them, but to ride them. I cannot see much of my bike while riding it.

But I can see yours while riding mine (and have) and it looks great!!!:laughing

But with the stalling problem we have heard about with the Ego, I am glad I got the SS9 which has no trace of that problem.

BTW, I did sit on the EGO at Mt. View and I would take it over the 2020 Zero SR/F for comfort any day. But I will take the SS9 over both of them. And I did.

I've ridden the Eva and the SR/F and they're pretty even. In fact the SR/F beat the Ego at the last Refuel TT. The SR/F hides it's weight very well and is easier to maneuver in slow riding. I was able to do tight circles with it easily. They made the CG very low on that bike. I thought the SR/F was very comfortable and the aerodynamics were good even with the little fly screen it had, I guess the bike was built for my size I guess, my Empulse feels small for me.

I had no complaint at all with the SR/F performance. I found it to be scary fast. But I am not into sport riding or the fast stuff. I am more of a touring type rider and I ride like a little old lady compared to most others I know.

I assume you're shorter than I am, or at least have shorter legs. I am just over 6' tall.

The sr/f only won because it was for a single lap time, the bike can't maintain that speed, it will overheat. there is no way the sr/f would be able to compete in the moto-e series

What racing teams that race the Zero motorcycle do is program the bikes so they have a higher threshold limits. Like it will push the battery and motor harder than it was designed to do or past the safeties.

Kenyon Kluge, the dude that broke the record is a legit racer also that works for Zero

It would be interesting to test your theory out though a 3 or 5 lap race between a couple SR/F and Egos or Evas see which one comes out on top.
