The Official 2017/2018 NFL Thread

I don't think I've ever seen as aggressive a game plan as Pederson presented. Does that guy have a wheelbarrow to cart his balls around or whut?

They call Rivera Riverboat Ron, but I just had the feeling for the whole game that Pederson had a "we made it here, so what the hell what we try" attitude.

THe NBC missing-in-action reporting on Malcolm Butler was pathetic. What is the frickin story and when do we get to find out?

My absolute favorite was the Pass to Foles in the endzone. I literally jumped and cheered for that.

In a room.. by myself. :laughing

The thing that is important to remember, is that the Eagles as an organization are not really that different from any other Pro Ball Team. They come from Colleges all over the country to play pro bowl and work in the league like they have always wanted to their whole lives. They don't even really have a history of dirty players like Dallas or CInncinnati do. It is the Philly FANS who are abominable.

It has to trickle down eventually though right??

Nice gesture. :thumbup

BB still hasn't said why Butler was benched, and what he has said is somewhat contradictory... I'm pretty sure BB wouldn't, but I started wondering if it was powerplay to show Kraft and Brady a little something after the Garapolo trade.

I think you're way off base. In fact I think Butler was a scratch because he wasn't considered the best player for the game. I honestly don't think the Pats have another DB capable of covering any better than they did during the game. BB is a consummate coach with victory as the absolute main goal. I can't see him ever putting his team in a position that decreases their chance of success.

To me the whole Butler thing is just an excuse by Pats fans. The Eagles stepped up and went toe to toe with them. No miraculous plays. Just straight up heavy weights slugging it out to the very last second.

I thought someone reported that Butler broke curfew attending a concert or something. He practiced with the starters all week...maybe he had a bad week of practice. Who knows. He won't be back with the team next year.

Not always. Donovan McNabb was a racist, brash, asshole of a player, but I think those guys show up on every team.

Ya know, I'll be real honest with you. You have said that for years and I thought you were full of shit. Looks like some of that may be coming to light these days with the sexual harassment allegations. Just goes to show that public persona and private personality are not always the same.

No, dude, I didn't start saying that until a read a bunch of stuff he said to the press when Terrell Owens was on the team setting him off. He wasn't hiding.

The dude was the starter, and on the field for 98% of the 2017 defensive plays of the Patriots season, and the CB that replaced him was shredded by Foles*.

As for disciplinary, BB came out and said it wasn't, but hasn't said why, so he's kind of contradicting himself if it actually was. (This wasn't like Barrett Robbins going completely off the reservation the night before the game.)

BB at least owes an honest explanation to NE fans, and to Butler, but he's a free agent anyway (probably end up in Detroit, Tennessee, Indy, or Houston).

*As for Foles, if he isn't an example of how bad a coach Jeff Fisher was, I don't know what is....

PSA: Having "your" team win the super bowl is surprisingly nice. Its made me giggle for no fucking reason for a few days now. I see why people do this football thing.

SHITBIRDS FOREVER!!

Dude, he was KILLING it in Philly before he went over there. I was scared to death of Foles when he played for the Shitbirds. The question for us now is, what happens to him? You have to assuem he wants to start again and I dont' think there is any question that Wentz is the man in Philly. What to do with little Nicky?

I think you have to trade Nicky. Once Carson starts struggling, fans are going to clamor for Nick.

stepping back, it is a wonderful problem for the Eagles to have.

FYI Foles is still under contract for another year. So the power is in Philly's hands. They could very well into 2018/19 with both on the roster, and there's not much Foles can do about it.

OTOH, his stock is very high right now, if they traded him in the off season they would get some very good terms for other players.

They'd just have to make sure they traded him to a team in the other division...

...and make sure Wentz is healthy enough to come back 100% at the start of the season. that would be my #1 concern.
