That is a beautiful reno! I'm not surprised it went for what it did.

Big house in a good location in a scorching hot market--not shocked. At $1,571/sf I would have bought a chunk of land someplace else and done a ground-up, but I'm also not a zip code snob. I'd be just as happy in Missouri as I would in CA. If you have the means and being IN san francisco is important to your quality of life--more power to ya.

That is an amazing view off of a spectacular deck and the interior is what I would call at the top of my list of wants on the modern side (if a bit sterile)... But I sure as hell don't see $7M but good on 'em :staRang

If I had that kind of money the kitchen would be one of the highlights.

That's a beautiful house with an unspectacular, and yes I agree sterile, kitchen.

i hate this word. reno is a city in nevada.

in closing, screw you hgtv, diy network and especially those canadian twins

hi stan!

The twins are cool, but the chick that does the detroit 'renos' is awesome! haha

It does look very nice. I am not really surprised either...but it still bothers me because maybe I should be? 7 million is fuckton of scratch.

Yeah, but that's not a regular noe valley home. It's some custom one off kinda thing and appeals to a very small clientele. One that can drop 7mil like it's no big deal.

.

they are among the least annoying i agree. nicole is indeed awesome. the repetitiveness of her message gets grating though, but i blame the producers for that.

the husband and wife in orange county, whom i call Barbie and the Fauxhawk because i refuse to learn their names or the name of their program, are at the top of my "i'm leaving the room" list.

'like omg barbie, we're going to go over budget'
'oh, fauhawk, do you think we can make up for it in the sale price'
'well, barbie, we paid more than we wanted to for this property as well, and it's right next to the prison... i hope so'
'that's true fauxhawk, but we did get a deal on all this marble, it'll pair well with the gold spittoons and bidet. we'll be ok i think'

I'm in this thread just to ask about the apparent difference in vertical angles between the house and the house on the left. Which one i's crooked? OR is it just a fisheye effect?

p.s. also learned the word reno (not in nevada)

This is news? What about the fixer-upper/rip the guts out house in SF that sold for more than 2 times OVER the asking price.

Where is the outrage about profiteering?

There are other "Bay Areas" out there we could all move to, but it would probably be like this:

My wife watches their show allllllllllll the time. As such, I know their names, but my promise to you is, from here on out, I will only refer to them as Barbie and Fauxhawk.

Thank you. :rofl

o_O :confused

Well if you could find *one* location that is ~better~ than the location in the OP, that's the 'dilapidated' location. Yeah really , so yes why shouldn't it be news?

IOW, both are news. 100%+ in a better location and .. a mere 20% amounting to $1.2 million in another location. Still news. A lot of money..

revnort's earlier post talking about 'scratch' though leads me thinking.. maybe for some people money are not what they are . They're just ephemeral paper scratch.

Think of the damn property tax.
When I think of spending this amount on a home my brain goes to income producing property.
$7M would net you 200 acres of nut trees with a spectacular home + shop, $150k of depreciation expense each year and $500k of income.
SF is great but damn.

This should be in the garage, if you can afford the house why not.
