Thoughts on BT-003R

I've never ran the 2cts, but from what I have read, when they do give out, they do so unexpectedly. Grip grip grip grip...no grip

Where as other tires are a bit more progressive in how they let go.

Bingo, that was my (unfortunate) experience.

I dont get tearing at 25/23 either (+/- 1 or 2 pounds depending on temp)

Ultimately its the hot pressure that matters I suppose

THe BT003s are pretty good in letting you know, on days 6/7 on them it was pretty apparent they didn't quite have the same level of ultimate grip so I had to be even smoother on the throttle to keep the rear in place.

to the person that asked about the 2cts, they have NO issues until you are running advanced pace upon which, they will have the grip grip grip grip NO GRIP issue.

BT003's do like to run a little low on psis, and they are wearing really well despite the 2nd trackday at 108F ambient temperatures!

Well that isn't good. Thanks for the information.

I absolutely love my power race. I have a PRC front and the turn-in was unsettling at first, but once i got used to the triangulated tire it was awesome! I got so used to it i found my self struggling to turn the bike on the street with the pilot powers on. Unfortunately michelin dropped the power race, now its time to find a new tire.

So here is my question, how is the turn-in on the bt-003, quick and agressive, or smooth and linear?

The power one comes in a 'V' profile in front - that should satsify your turn in needs.

Just thought i'd revive this thread wi/ further info on my experiences wi/ the 003R (soft front/med rears)

I've run thru 2 sets, always on warmers, and in various temperature ambient temps; from 108F days to 80F days .

It seems that the tire as they say, is a harder carcass; i've run my pressures on both tires at 24/24 on the second set and the wear was phenomenal, even with literbike power. Granted, by the 3rd trackday, the left side was DONE and was slipping around quite a bit mostly cause of the shaving! The front still looked pristine. But I dont usually push a set of tires after the 3rd trackday.

The tire like all tires is sensitive to setup but I definitely dont think it is AS sensitive as pirellis. Overall, they are a great deal (some vendors sell em for as cheap as 365) and a great tire. I am gonna try out some pirellis next time out (Race DOT front, competition slick rear) and see how they play ball!

From what I understand Pirelli's DOT and Slicks are the same tire. The DOT however has grooves in them.

Someone correct me if im wrong. :thumbup

you can usually do 2 rears for every 1 front on the liter bikes. I pulled mine off after 7 days and Brian (#1freak) asked me why I was taking it off :laughing

I've been running 003s on my 636 for a while now; I think they're great. After 2/3 of a Laguna day (broken throttle cable ended it early in the afternoon) and 2 full THill days (this past weekend) I'm on the wear bar for the left side on the rear; time to flip it and hopefully get another day or two. 28 front cold 22 rear cold, wear pattern looks absolutely perfect (thanks to Catalyst Reaction). THill times were 2:01-2:05 and Laguna was 1:39-1:44.

The tires just seem to grip like mad. I haven't felt a slip yet. I have Pirellis on my SV racebike and I've felt numerous slips in the rear with those (devil turns @ Miller, carousel @ Infineon). Can't wait to switch to a 180 rear on the SV so I can get rid of the damned Pirellis.

After having tearing issues with Power Race rears (med comp) and having the Power Ones sliding around in 105 deg. heat I tried the 003's and I got my confidence back and had a great weekend at T-hill, and you cant beat that at any price. Great tire all the way around, and the wear is amazing.

you are absolutely right about that. But the slicks Chris hooked me up with are the competition Diablo slicks, good for only 1 day!

So what preferred "hot off the warmers" pressure do you guys use? For anyone running pirelli's that switched to BT003's, did you have to change anything on your suspension setup. Dave Moss has my bike feeling good on the Pirelli's. I run 1:52's at Infineon and
2:04's at Thill, not super fast, so maybe my setup isnt as critical. lol

I love the Pirelli's, grip has been awesome and no slips, slides or anything un-predictable. Im on the Supercorsa race DOT's. Usually if I get something I like, I stick with it. Im not happy though with Pirelli at Thill, so I may switch brands. The Bridgestones racer price also seems to be about $40 cheaper per set.

i just set my cold pressure and that was it, I set em at 24/24 which just worked for me really well. However, the starting point is apparently 29F 25R.

No odd wear, nothing, and my suspension was setup by Mr. Moss himself.

I am doing the opposite, goin to Pirelli after the 003R's just to have some variation.

I was doing 27ish off the warmers..shooting for 32/30 hot. At least that's what moss tells me to do :laughing

Just wanted to contribute here with regard to my recent experience on a Medium BT003 front I tried October 11 at a Keigwin day at Thunderhill. I have been running the Soft front, Medium rear BT003 DOTs for quite a while and like others commented they really perform well. I'm not all that fast (running 2:03-2:04) and from my experience the Bridgestones have good grip, feedback and wear life (like so many other great tires out there from Dunlop, Pirelli and Michelin).

The Medium front seemed to require a bit more input to initiate the turn, but once leaned over it was really planted. This helped a lot under trail braking and seemed to give me a little more confidence during corner entry. I will probably stick with the Soft front now that we're into the winter months, but will certainly want to get some more time on a Medium front next season as temperatures climb.
