tips of keeping house cool during the summer is appreciated...

We know that water-cooled motorcycles work better in hotter temperatures than air-cooled ones, right? The same goes for houses. Therefore, put a big plastic kiddie pool in the middle of the living room and get in it. Bonus points if you are able to entice a laidee into your house by bragging about your new indoor pool.

thanks for all the tips and advises....

now my other problems at night when it's cooler, i open up the windows and found annoying gnats still manages to get through the screens....:thumbdown

now i gotta make a trip to home dept and figure out the costs of the attic fans, vents, tools needed to do the job, and bug sprays...

I went oakie on the southern windows. Reflective film frekin worked wonders.

My family room has 18ft ceilings and lots of big-ass windows that let's egg frying sunlight into the house. :flame I had solar film put on those windows a couple months ago, and it dropped the room temp by 10 degrees. I even get a 10% tax credit next year. :thumbup

tinting out the windows sounds like a good idea too...:cool

Same results. About 10 degrees cooler on the hottest days.

THis place used to get warmer than ambient temp during the late afternoon.

My own personal easy bake oven.. Tried the swamp cooler. Nada. Just hot and sticky.

Don't run ceiling fans unless you're in the same room. They move air, which is good for you, but if you're not there to appreciate it they just transfer heat from the ceiling to the air
