tire shiner

Poor guy - you guys are heartless :) Everyone was a newb once.

I'd spray contact cleaner on a rag and scrub down the tires really, really well.

Yeah i did, i just want some advise on how to remove it?
This bike wasn't a brand new 600rr like you guys might have imagined, it was a salvage street fighter w/o fairings except for the tank and tail from the auctions, some one had the pleasure of dropping it before hand, so don't be so dramatic people.

:rofl

fucking moron READ THE LABEL

it's NOT FOR MOTORCYCLES

you really should avoid puting anything on your tires....

Hi, i bought this http://www.walgreens.com/store/prod...=frgl_644678&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=sku303828 and used it on my tires, if the link doesn't work it is the "Armor All Extreme Tire Shine".
It is said to protect the tires, so i thought yeah I'll try it!
Then after it dries in 15min I go "WTF!" my tire are so oily and slick, i am pretty scared taking my bike to work tomorrow and it is said to be raining too. Omg this stuff isn't for bikes huh?

You don't by any chance own a Mustang Cobra, do you?

use simple green from walgreen or concentrated dish soap. start whiping it down and hose it off with water. make sure u hose off the tire good and let it dry over night...

should be good.

* Use only as directed.
* Not for use on floors, vehicle controls - pedals, grips, steering wheels, bench or cycle seats, cycle tires, brake drums and other surfaces where slipperiness may be hazardous.

How about condoms? Is it safe to use on condoms? :confused

Srsly tho...if you really were intent on using this stuff, spray it on a rag or sponge and then wipe the sidewalls of your tires. Keep it off the tread at all costs.

Hey, in my early days, I used "armor all" on my seat and almost fell of the bike on the very first turn. :laughing

Using a tire dressing on the sidewalls shouldn't be too big of a deal as long as it doesn't contaminate any part of the tread. If it does, clean it thoroughly with a stiff brush and soap and water--dishsoap is probably best, about 1/2 and 1/2 soap/water, and then take a hard file to the contaminated tread. (A hard file would be the same thing used to sharpen a lawnmower blade or to file wood down.) You'll need to scratch off the contaminated area with it. In fact, I'd recommend to prevent further "leaking" to scrub down the entire sidewall, too. :2cents

Tire dressing has no place on a motorcycle tire. Sorry. Once you've cleaned up the tire, take it easy with the dramatic lean angles until you have scrubbed them in on the road completely.

If you want to spruce up your tires get one of those white oil crayons/markers used for tires and color the raised letters that say Dunlop or Sportmax or Battleax or whatever tire you have on there. It looks kind of squidly, but it's definitely an improvement, kind of like a big race car tire, if you know what I mean. And it's a good, methodical project, especially if you like the little details. Very few people do this, and it sets the bike apart somewhat. :thumbup

It's okay to look like a squid as long as you don't ride like a squid. Good luck to you. :ride

I know everyone is having a little fun with this, but the name calling is not necessary - nor is it allowed by the rules. Please be cool :)

Use the tire protectant spayed onto the applicator sponge, then do the sidewalls ONLY on your tires. Don't use so much it runs down into the tread, and don't spray it on directly.

Except, my front tires never wear out, I have to replace them when the sidewalls dry rot. I do use a light application of tire preservative from a sponge to the sidewall. I just had to replace a tire with a ton of tread on it.

When you are done getting the stuff off your tires you should drill some holes in your radiator, this will provide better airflow and cooling and should be good for another 10bhp.

+1 on the belt sander......then after scrubbing off the tire shine, just a quick application to the knee pucks, and you should be good to go!!!!

I wouldn't even use that shit on car tires when you know it's going to rain soon.
