TL1000R...... i did it again!

Nice choice. There are a few bikes that I've owned more than one of over the years. I've owned 3 SV1000's. They're great bikes and highly under rated in my opinion. But I always lusted for TLR for the GSXR like stying and the higher HP motor...maybe one day...

Suzuki had the right idea, just didn't execute that idea as well as they could have.

I really wanted one when they came out but the reviews and owners talked me out of it. But damn, they did sound nice!

Now if only someone would've talked me out of the 2012 Ducati 1099 Streetfighter....

Looks better and more practical than the modern style of no ass.
You could stash a six pack in the tail of a TLR.

Nothing in the motorcycling world like a pair of large jugs and a well sculpted ass.

Especially so when most of the cladding is off and the simplicity of the working bits are there for all to see. A square case 750SS, or an airhead R90/S with a full fairing would ride nice but not quite tease the eye when going in for a closer peek.

But, OMG! The tail of that 750. . .OMG.

Did you ever ride a TLS without a steering damper with the rotary damper in place?

Holy tankslapper batman.
PO had removed the damper before it made it to me. ZERO rebound damping from the rotary!
Coupled with the junk OEM KYB forks, the bouncy-pogo thing was...alarming. Never got into a bad one, mainly because I was too scared to push the thing hard.
Tossed the rotary damper and grafted in a Penske 8981, then fitted K6 GSX-R Showa forks. WORLD of difference! Haven't felt the need for a steering damper after that.
FWIW, it's the bike in my avatar.

"In the spirit of the early 2000s and Britney Spears’ 'Oops!... I Did It Again,' I’ve gone and bought myself another classic motorcycle.

A bit of a throwback to my less practical years, something I don’t exactly need... but also, maybe I do (especially as I celebrate my 60th year!). I picked up a 2002 Suzuki TL1000R, previously owned by Tim, the man behind PASHNIT Motorcycle Tours.

With an RC51 and Ducati 996S already under my belt, I figured I might as well complete the Millennial V-Twin Superbike triad.

Here’s to my new ride! Let’s hope my wife wont mind it. Cheers!"

Let me know what you think!

I've had Twin-itis for much of.my life. My favorite strains were going around in the late 90s...

If a VTR1000F jumped up and whispered "buy me"...it would happen, unless it's yellow.

Something about yellow motos...

Nice! I had a 1997 TLS as a young 'ooligan back in 1998/99 and absolutely loved it. I had a hyperpro damper but junked it in the end and it behaved fine. I had one MAHOOOsive slapper when I landed a wheelie a bit crooked in 3rd merging onto the M25 motorway, which almost threw me off the bike. Both wheels off the ground / feet off the footrests territory. Took a very shaky-fingered fag break after that. Absolutely loved the big kick in power at 6k and the cam gear whine.

It did like to get crossed up going down the box when hard on the brakes. I remember charging into a roundabout and it coming round onto the opposite lockstop from the direction that I wanted to go. Distinctly remember giggling and thinking 'that's not very helpful, is it?'

I had my short term fun with the TL1000R. Will be selling it as ilI clean out my garage to make room for a new Yammy.

Will post it on CL and FB Market soon. Hope I don't need to ship it to Nigeria.
