Top Places to eat in the Bay Area

Has anyone been to Thanh Long, Crustaceans, or Ana Madeira (sp?)? All of these three are in SF. I feel like some Asian food but I can't distinguish between the better one. Or is there a hidden one I don't know about?

the first two are the same ownership I believe and rock the seafood. I would go to the first. everyone get their own ginger crab! yum!

Ana Mandara's is Don Johnson's place down in the Wharf and a level above those two. I would go here above those others, nouveau Calif asian fare :p Great bar and outside seating upstairs.

Buca di Beppo sux ass for good italian... you're retarded.

It's cheap and decent for how many ppl you can feed. But I wouldn't necessarily call it the best. :teeth
:hand:| Okay Ikea-girl :twofinger
It's by no means the best (who knows the name of the family-style place on Winchester:confused), but for the $$ it's dayam good... especially the romano white-sauce with the garlic bread... YUMMMMMMMMMM :laughing:p

OOOOHHHH!!! Try Union Chinese Food at the corner of Bascom/Union. The place looks like a deserted house from the outside, but they have great food - and CHEAP!!! :thumbup:teeth:chuci

What city is Top Dog in?

There's also one in the Crescent Shopping Center (next to the movie theater, across the street from Sweet Tomatoes) in Pleasant Hill.

I need to see if the Pomegranite is still open. Great Greek/Mediterranean place in Concord, next to the movie theater.

This is not a place that is GREAT but if you are in Berkeley and only have 4 bucks and want a sit down lunch:

Taiwan Restaurant on University, next to McDonalds...

4.00$ includes:
Hot Tea
Soup
Your meal over rice (They have like 25 plates to choose from)
Tip (The meal costs 3.25$)

Donovan

~donoman: Taqueria Cancun is my fave, it's at 19th and Mission, on Mission but there are soooo many good ones it's hard to pick just one :)

~mr. smiley: Food forum? what food forum?

A place for really, really good tacos and quesadillas is the taqueria near San Jose Yamaha. I'm a big fan of traditional mexican food, I eat everything from sesos to cabeza (tender beef head). The price is really good too.

I went to Lawry's in Las Vegas for prime rib, that place is bomb. House of Prime Rib on Van Ness is sweeeeeeet. I'm still waiting for a nice occasion to try the French Landry. That place is supposedly top notch all the way around.

i hear french laundry is da shiet...and i saw only one post with someone who tried it...wonder how it was... :confused

Thanks for the advice. Tried Giovanni's Pizza today off Lawrence. The pizza was good, had a nice crisp crust, and the calamari was awesome.

we eat at that giovanni's for lunch frequently...it gets crowded on weekdays...good pizza...

thanh long is the original restaurant and crusteaceans followed...they opened one up in beverly hills as well...dungeous roasted crab is the best there...with the ahn garlic noodles...mmm...

if you want good sushi in the san jo area...try hatcho...one of the sushi chefs there rides but i don't think he's on barf. anyway, if they have toro, it's GOOD!!! and they're ama ebi (sweet shrimp) is so fresh, it's kicking up until they actually serve it to you...also, if you want FRESH sashimi, you can't get fresher than the damn thing moving on the plate right in front of you!!! :teeth here's their website: Hatcho

Kuleto's - SF
The Boulevard - SF
Scotts - Oakland/Jack London Square

Can't think of any others off the top of my head. But there's a LOT of great places in SF to eat.

Oh, and if you want to hit the epicenter of culinary creations...

Go to Napa.

Bricks, Mustards, French Laundry, Chandon Winery, etc etc...

Edit: I didn't read ANY of this thread, just going on personal knowledge. And yea I've been to the french laundry, it's really really good. Obviously it's the total cliche "small" portioned french place. But you don't walk out of there hungry, rather very satisfied with the meal as a whole.

French Laundry is a fixed course, for around $100 a person. Not including drinks. Although the fixed courses are setup so that there's a couple selections in case your preference dictates otherwise..

I'd definately go back, but damn that 3 month wait list sucks! I went there a LONG time ago also, near when they first were becoming recognized. They don't take reservations past 3 months, and then it's always booked 3 months in advance. How ironic!
