Towing 720lb Bandsaw with '88 Dodge Ram 50?

Tip it into the back of your truck. Can't you unhook the tailgate or take it off? Put a strap from the base of the saw up to your truck bed anchors so the bottom does not kick out and the saw slide off the back of the truck when you tip it in.

A friend and I moved his 1500# safe that way. We used ratchet straps from the truck around the bottom of safe to tip it into the bed and then to move it into the bed. Went nice and slow and smooth.

And take the heavy bits off first.

Some people can bench press this much weight. Just don't let it squish anything.

I worry about tipping even with major strapping down.

Saw weighs 650lbs. What about tipping it into my ram 50? I’ll have to get new tires before Saturday but they are cheap.

Payload is 1500lbs. I remember coming home from placerville with 500lbs of lead and a mini bike in the back. The tipping part onto my dodges tailgate before its lifted concerns me. That’s some weight on the tailgate.

After talking to costumer service I think going vertical images drove sketchy and getting out more difficult.

The tailgate probably comes off pretty easily. I've removed them in the past when loading really heavy stuff into pickups. Most tailgates, especially on small trucks, are not meant to support more than a couple/few hundred pounds.

This is a fun thread. Debating hauling something in a pickup truck that weighs as much as two fat guys. In India they'd have already delivered it in a tuk tuk with a donkey strapped to the front to keep it from tipping over.

Or having lifted it up on the head of some guy to the roof of a bus and strapped it down there. +1 to your sentiment.

Disagree. The donkey is there for motive power because the tuk tuk engine died. Essentially thebtuk tuk is just a donkey trailer

I don't think doing 1mph on 101 with Donkey motivation is going to end well.
I disagree. It won't start well, but who knows how it would end.

I've also driven in the BA enough to know that if you could lane split with the donkey you'd be moving faster than the surrounding traffic most of the time.

It would end in lots of carnage, I'll tell ya that. :twofinger

Seems like a really nice piece of equipment.

I don't know that I'd halfass bringing it home.

I would get it laid down in the bed of larger pickup-sounds like Kornholio has one.

Jason gone these weekend and seller needs it gone Saturday so after waffling, yeah me waffling :laughing, I rented a crew or ext cab full size from Budget for $40 :wow with unlimited miles for 24 hours. Freakin Uhaul wanted $0.99 a mile plus $20. Be $150 cuz after a price break in mileage.

I'm just hoping with my help, dads help, wife's help, and their forklift we can get it laid down on the spline. It's likely gonna stick out but I'll have enough ratetching straps to secure it. Vertical is faster to load but scares the hell out of me.

Another reason why I waned to sell my little truck and get that 4 door long bed diesel :laughing I keep encountering situations where my little truck is too small. Maybe a standard bed but 3/4 ton would be nice.

I sold my four door long bed diesel.

For the costs of registration for it, you could rent that budget truck fifteen times a year and come out ahead as you still wouldn't be paying maintenance.

IMO, If you're not working one full time, it's just a waste.

Dude, You have one kid....

I know and I can't explain why I want bigger. I've been driving a suburban for 4 years now, still under 80k miles for a 2001. My family including 2 nieces and nephew are all close and the idea of piling everyone in one ride that is capable of going places is very intriguing.

I'll have a hitch for my ride this weekend so maybe I'll find a cool tear drop, all just pie in the sky at this point.

If I had lots of $$$ to burn it would be a problem. I'd have a Unimog, decked out Land Cruiser etc.

Whats your parking situation like?? :laughing

I much prefer driving smaller vehicles. I also daydream about a teardrop but in those thoughts there are no kids in tow.

Rent a truck with a lift gate........16 foot box.......with proper tie downs.

You make me laugh.
Dont make yourbwfe help, she's preggers. C'mon. Maybe the most she can be a counterweight or something no lifting!

Dont forget the red flag. Legally required for anything sticking...ummm.. 4 feet or more pass the end of the bed. Realistically, if anything at all is stickingmout you're crazy running without a flag. Some dimbulb is going to hit it.

Uhaul is a RIP off, glad you found the secret.
