Toyota dealership that is easy to deal with?

Some of you may recall my story of a coworker whose husband passed away almost two years ago. She commutes from Salinas to Campbell for work and wants to buy a 2025 Camry, all of which are now hybrids. She went to Salinas Toyota today and was pretty much accosted by a scumbag salesman. Can anyone recommend a Toyota dealer that has decent scruples? Is there even such a thing? I have never bought a Toyota and have always felt that the buying experience would be a challenge. I would have fun, because I always do when buying a new car (if necessary), but she needs to deal with someone who isn't a slimy douchebag. I'm not averse to telling a dick salesman that me walking away (my back and balding pate) is the last he will see of me unless he plays nice.

I will go with her when I can when she shops. As always, thanks for the input!
 
SF toyota, my father bought his 2023 sienna and they were mostly reasonable to deal with. Too many played games tried to jerk job. Still had to pay and wait but it is what it is.
 
I agree with this, dealing with her impatience will be difficult.
 
There are good people ad bad people in this world and some of them are car salesmen. It's not the dealership, it's that particular sales person. Ask for another. It's that simple. Don't offer an explanation. Your friend is the buyer and is in control of the situation.
 
I haven't bought a new car since 1976! I buy used cars with around 50K miles and drive it till it cost more to repair than makes sense. I can pay for a lot of major repairs when compared to making a car payment every month. And I can make minor repairs myself along with regular maintenance.
 
Walking into a car dealership is like your first day on the prison yard... you better find someone and make them your bitch, before they do it to you! :laughing
 
I know it's far from you, OP....but Novato Toyota is the exception to the rule. I worked for several dealerships over the years. Novato Toyota is the rare remaining "family owned" dealership and that's their strength. It's owned by very good people and it shows.
 
When I bought my 22 tundra in middle of pandemic I used this site https://markups.org/toyota/california

Found like the 3 within 100 mile sof me that were not doing markup. This was right in middle of chip shortage pandemic car pricing, with RAV4 primed going 10-40k over msrp
 
My understanding is that Costco only saves you 1k under MSRP. Please correct me if I am wrong.
 
Its been twenty years since I used Costco to purchase a car so everything may have changed. There wasn't a flat rate discount at that time.

My experience was you put the make/model/trim level you want into Costco's system and participating dealers will contact you. A local Mazda dealer had exactly the car we wanted for $2,500 under MSRP. We made an appointment and met with the fleet salesman at the dealer (he handled the Costco sales). They guy was super mellow and didn't try to upsell anything. He had all the paperwork ready and the whole thing took about 20 minutes.
 
I bought my 4 year old Prius from Toyota of Concord, the experience was fine I looked online for Toyota certified used cars and it was pretty easy. Concord seemed to have the best prices at the time but that was 5 years ago.
 
Almost all of my vehicles came from out of state because it's cheaper even with the shipping and hassle.

  • I have bought from Ebay and shipped from Texas
  • I have bought from Ebay and shipped from Texas
  • I have bought from Ebay picked up from Arizona
  • I have bought from Alabama and shipped
  • One car I picked up from Southern California

She wants a 2025 Camry, those are in super high demand and I talked with a broker (look up buying through a broker) and they both said most they could do is $500-$1000 off MSRP. Look at the Toyota vehicle finder for the car / options you want and in the color you want, you will see most aren’t even in dealer inventory yet (they will be delivered from anywhere 1-2 months away).

While you might get lucky at a dealer who needs 1 more sale at the end of the month to make a performance quota for that bonus, I bet most will not deal much on brand new model upgrade 2025 car unfortunately.

Now if you are willing to fly to a state where people don’t make as much F-U money you might be able to pre arrange a sales contract with a dealer there before you arrive and get a decent deal on something they have on their lot already…

did you even try my website, its pretty easy to filter whose asking msrp and whose asking over, find those that are at msrp and start working your deal, pretty ez man, like i narrowed the 3x within 5 mins when i was shopping for my tundra
