I'm planning on re-springing my F4i in prep for my first track day next month. I've heard differing opinions on Racetech's calculator, some say to go a step up from their recommended spring rate, some say to go a step down. Anyone know what's up with that? I put .90's in my last bike (F2) but I never tracked it. Also, is there any other brand I should check out?

They read light. Try sonic springs and traxxion.com as well. How much do you weigh?

If you have to ask consult a professional. Catalyst equals yes.

It is going to come down to what do you need it to do along with how much you weight and the infinite other factors you obviously have no scope of.

The final tuning will be done by them you say? So why not have them help you out the whole way. Come on man.

I do my own work. I think Dave moss will be at the track so i'll have him do the setup once I got the right springs and fluid in there.

I am sure either of them would be kind enough to make a recommendation free of charge, I didn't mean they had to do the work.

Ah. Good thinking. I'll try calling Dave or whoever it is Keigweins is having at the track he day I'll be there.

Call Dave. Ask his advice, and buy the springs through him. FWIW, .90 sounds a little light for your weight I weigh 185, run .90s on my GS500 race bike, and honestly think I could go a little stiffer.

My general advice is to go a little heavier than what Racetech recommends, assuming you're aggressive on the brakes. If you're very smooth, Racetech's recommendation is probably okay, but if you're in-between springs, go up.

Again though, I trust Dave's judgement. :)

+1 to what Burning1 said.

Call Rob or Dave and ask them what weight spring to get. If you want to do it yourself and have one of them set the bike up for you later that is fine. But I wouldn't trust those online calculators and I know they are way off.

FWIW, I'm way lighter than you, even with all my gear on. I spoke to Dave about getting my Daytona re-sprung a few weeks back and he recommended a 525 spring for me. Which is about .93 or .94 or something like that. You will need to go stiffer if you are ~200.

Just give one of them a quick call, they will quickly let you know what you need to get.
