Trikes!

Nah, just personal preference, really. I like the inverted configuration. Well, obviously!! :laughing But that's just me. No matter which vehicle I'm on, bike or trike, every GoldWing or HD trike rider I have encountered always had a rather large smile on their face, so they are enjoying the ride, and there is nothin' wrong with that. :cool

It seems like trikes have all the downsides of a bike (exposure to weather, risk in collisions, must wear a helmet, etc.) without the benefits (leaning in a turn, splitting lanes, going where you shouldn't, etc.). Get some kind of convertible and call it a day. :dunno

Most people pretty mutch do. How many trikes do you see in the streets? I think Can Am is trying to market their trike like a motorcycle.
 
I traded in my Can-Am at the beginning of this summer for an Aprilia Shiver.

I bought the Can-Am a couple years ago because I was too chicken to buy a bike. The Stability control/ABS/Traction control system was the big draw for me. I had the RT model. It's the big one with all the storage, cruise control, heated grips, electric air-ride suspension, adjustable windscreen, auto-trans, etc. and it was great for touring. Nobody believes me when I tell them that I rode it from San Jose to Portland, OR. One day up and one day back. 13 hours each way with a days rest in the middle.

I also rode it over route 9 and Skyline a bunch of time too. There's where it fell short. I felt like I was wrestling it around every corner.

Public relations were a bit of a hassle when I was riding it. I kinda like to keep to myself most of the time and every stop usually involved a conversation with someone who's either never rode a bike and loves it or has a bike and doesn't understand why anyone would buy the Can-Am.

I can say that it did provide a similar meditative effect as riding a two-wheeler. Next time you see a guy on one don't forget that he's probably out clearing his head just like you. Maybe give him a wave.

It was very expensive but I'm glad I had it. I probably would have never bought my Aprilia if I hadn't had the Can-Am first and I'm absolutely loving my bike. I look forward to riding a two-wheeler for the rest of my life.
 
Convertibles are cool too but yer still in a fucking cage. Not for me. I hate being in cages now. There are very few circumstances that will force me into a cage any more. Can-Am is marketing the open-air experience, but they are not pushing the motorcycle thing too hard, because I think the bike purists will call B.S. on it. And maybe they are right! I try not to get too caught up in any of that; I just know that I have a good time on mine, and that's all that counts.

Huellhowser, I'm right there with ya man! Riding the FA is a triumph for me personally, and I'll be on two for the rest of my life. But the Phantom got me back in the wind after all those years, and I will be forever grateful. Plus now that my Wife has one we can have all kinds of adventures together on them. It's all good. And congrats on the Shiver! :thumbup

First 'moto' I ever rode was an 250cc ATC at Pismo Beach at about 9 yrs old. What a blast! I'd rock a trike

The can am has the wheels in the right place if you're going for a trike.

Close but no cigar. The best way is to make a 3 wheel car with one of the rear wheels missing. That way you keep full car cornering power in turns on one side with a slight decrease in cornering on the other. A centered rear wheel compromises both left and right turns.

I've never seen that commercial before, kinda cool to see the Dry Creek General Store at :08, I pass that every day on my ride to work.

The tech in this will override some of the reasons to trike for those with health issues, and it leans.

I actually think that sounds kinda cool. It even looks narrow enough to share in!

I don't think these will go over well, though:
The production version will have electric motors in each wheel with blue illumination that give it a very Tron Lightcycle appearance. The company says the C-1 has a range of over 200 miles per charge a steady speed of 65 mph.
