Trying to wheelie out of a corner

LMAO, yes half of the reason of me even posting this thread was to get the humor out of it, and I sure did, as well as a little bit knowledge. Yes it was dumb and I still had fun doing it even though I ate shit, but I learned some things from this like every crash.

You had fun eating shit?

What, pray tell, did you learn from this?

Smart riders learn from their mistakes. Wise riders learn from others' mistakes.

For your own sake, I hope you're one of the above.

... but I learned some things from this like every crash.

I always tell people that there is ALWAYS something to learn from a crash. If you can't find something, maybe riding isn't your thing. Even if it's something that you knew already.

If it's something you knew already and you still crashed, maybe riding's not your thing either.

Each of my four "learning" crashes happened for a different reason, and each taught me a different lesson, never to be repeated.

^that's the spirit :) man, though, it came down to the same choice for me as these other guys are saying...I want to really get good at wheelies and sliding and stuff, not just mess around with it, and I'm fine with crashing,

but I don't want to
1) hurt other people
2) hurt myself more than I can handle,
3) pay buckets of money to repair shit

soooooo, you buy a dirt bike. for like $1500, you got a bike you can

1) crash at low speeds and learn the same stuff
2) costs nearly nothing
3) not bother anyone else
4) pretend to be Kenny Roberts all day long.

wheelies and drifting are just as exciting at 30mph, especially when you suck at them.

also i bet you were going 30 when you highsided

btw nice bike :twofinger

Thanks for the positive feed back, yeah I try and go dirtbike riding as much as I can with KTM Strawn.

Well I had fun learning from it, life is boring if you don't ever take a risk and fuck up (in my opinion), but I learned quite a bit from it. Great advice and I definitively believe in it, and I will crash again and make more mistakes, but even the best riders in the world make mistakes :) so I have no problem at all doing so either. :twofinger

my plan is to avoid accidents and crashes :thumbup

i bet your bike would like to be on its 2x wheels upright more then shiny side down.

wheelie-ing out of a corner is just like dragging knee... its a by-product of going fast; it is NOT something we try to do to go fast.
You're referring to power wheelies right? I don't know how to do wheelies and I've only read about them...

Need a more powerful bike.

Lolz, yeah. 929 is a beginner's bike! :x

As other's pointed out, throttle control is everything. 929 fuel injection comes on rather abruptly when you're getting on the gas at the apex. Practice this first before worrying about power wheelies. Otherwise you will hamfist it and go down no matter what tire pressure you run, among other things.

Long live the king! :ride

lol street bikes arent dirt bikes

Oh I wouldn't say that...

OP tried to wheelie out of a corner, and didn't die. I love barf, and its over-the-top replies full of gloom and doom.

OH MY GOD, DON'T WHEELIE ON THE STREET, EVAR!!!!0NE!!!11!!!!

lol, perfect this and perfect that and another couple of perfect things. fuckin snap the throttle when you're almost out of the corner, and scoot your ass back on the seat a hair.

thats what im talking about!!!:thumbup

This is an AWFUL mindset. Seriously. The goal is to NOT crash! Learn from others' mistakes, and work on honing your skills through education, not ignorance and wadding your bike. You want to learn to power wheelie out of corners? Start doing track days, learn how to ride well, then aggressively, and it'll happen.

Try it Every Lap at ThunderHill, turn 9 :teeth

That should be exciting enough

I managed to loft the front on my li'l ninjette on a race weekend out there... saw the slight headshake, had a "WTF??" moment... and then realized I had just lofted over the top... who knew an old-skool ninja 2-fiddy as tired as my poor race bike could manage that??? It was pretty awesome! :teeth
