TV Coverage for the Daytona 200?

does anyone else feel that telling us back in 2013 that there would be no TV deal would have been better than just not saying anything?

plus, just think about how much time, effort, and $$ was probably wasted trying to get a TV deal in place. i feel bad for Chet Burkes too.

Since it has been unwilling to put in the capital to expand the series, and we know they have the $$$$ to have made the investment, DMG would do the whole motorcycle racing community a favor by simply selling the series to somebody else.

I don't think that they could have screwed up motorcycle racing in the US any worse than if they intentionally planned to do so.

AMA Pro Racing just posted this teaser on their Road Racing and Flat Track Facebook pages. Absolutely no explanation other than a reference to FansChoice.TV coming March 12.

http://www.fanschoice.tv Only has a "coming soon" message.

At least there is a chance we will be able to watch something. Many Northern California racers headed to Daytona for road racing and flat track.

the real news here is that both Flat Track & Road Racing have a new deal & it's online only:

FansChoice.tv will be the official home for live streaming coverage of AMA Pro Road Racing and AMA Pro Flat Track events in 2014.

The site will also provide coverage of IMSA's development and single-make series, and NASCAR's touring and weekly series.

Complete details about FansChoice.tv will be released in the coming days.

I'm ever-hopeful.....

rying not to get my hopes up. They haven't stated they are covering every round of either series or given any details about the package or cost. I'm not sure I see DMG paying for a crew, production truck and high speed capability for all the dirt tracks. Most of the facilities that FT visits are mom and pop speedways or fairgrounds and not likely to have a production booth and a really fast connection needed for streaming. Thats just my usual BS speculation and I hope I'm wrong.

youse are 1 smart guy!

at the inaugural NorCal event of our now-reviving AMA Pro dirt series, the ticketing was state-of-the-art wireless, multiple printers at the windows, etc.

the local provider's Fairgrounds service crashed from the online ticketing traffic, which created a HUGE backup at the gate & pissed many folks off who'd purchased online

the few hundred feet of old skul coax that would've resolved the issue weren't ever installed onsite bcz facility had "leapfrogged into the 21st Century"

apparently, not......

here's new DT eye candy:

All we know so far is that FansChoice.TV will be free. No registration or anything. Fully produced show with announcers and multiple cameras according to this article in National Speed Sport News:
http://www.nationalspeedsportnews.com/nascar/touring-series/streaming-site-fanschoice-tv-makes-debut/

Still no information about whether all races or all classes will be shown. AMA Pro Racing is supposed to have more details today.

They talk about live streaming but how about on-demand races? Most folks can't watch the races during work hours (at least I can't).

Typical AMA/DMG. Short on important details and not eager to answer questions.

The AMA Pro page on the FansChoice.TV site already has some races and features from last year so one could hope it will operate like a YouTube channel.

Just watched Greg' Garage on the races this year answers a lot of questions. Yes will be free, live and able to watch later.

I did watch the video. I only heard information regarding live viewing and nothing about on-demand stuff (i.e. YouTube style). I guess I missed it.

Josh Hayes' excellent AMA Pro situation summary:

".....In an age of information it’s amazing at how little we have in the AMA [Pro] paddock.....

.....I don’t understand why it is where it is or how it got to where it is.
As much as I think I do, every time I think I do I find out there’s more to it than I think there is.

“It’s difficult when my friends who want to follow my racing at home ask me how and I don’t know how to tell them to follow my racing.
I don’t know if it’s on television.
I don’t know if there’s live streaming [on the Internet], and if it is I don’t know what kind of live streaming it is.
I don’t know if it’s a GoPro [video camera] sitting in a corner or if there’s actually a cameraman out there with a good camera angle watching us go around the racetrack”
....."

OK!

So much for "fanschoice" or is all the "2013" a typo.

Page is having too much trouble loading too. :dunno

The AMA Pro Racing YouTube page has the highlights/race recap (but not the full races yet) for Superbike race 2 and the Daytona 200. The recaps are much higher quality than the original streaming was. That may mean they are editing and uploading higher quality, uncompressed HD files for the YouTube channel.

Scroll down to Recent Uploads: https://www.youtube.com/user/AMAProVids

Also the editing is slightly different. The original broadcast of the 200 showed the start from high above the track. The recap shows the start from pit lane.
