unbum out yourself?

I tend to go target shooting bow, pistol, the rifle I don't care I just get out and shoot and it takes away the blues.

Or I have family over for dinner and we goof off before and after and sometimes have a huge bball game and just have fun. I do try and do this every few weeks to keeps the blues away as a preventative measure.

Lift really hard. Shooting range. Or a long bike ride. Binge a show.

Ride.
Dirtbike, mtn bike, sportbike, all of the above.

riding is more of a maintenance activity to me WRT controlling ambient stress (i deliberately never ride when i am under a heavy stress load as i consider it too dangerous - don’t ask me how i know).

but WRT acute stress, i am very driven by smell. and that’s when i go to my garden. the smell of fresh dirt is the best. followed by the flowers. depending on the time year it is orange blossoms, lavender, roses, jasmine, rosemary, gardenias, and honeysuckle. even fresh cut grass does it for me. throw in the bees and the hummers...all are calming.

Anything but hiding from the world.
Recently I have spent time @ AZ bike week and Laughlin river run, currently shopping in Vegas.
I got so tired walking around with all the noise and dodging wandering shoppers, up 'till after midnite, every nite, I needed down time for my sanity.
Waking up with tired legs, sore feet makes it hard to hit the door, but money was spent for me to be there, adventure awaits.
Moving to a quiet park and sleeping in helps me back to a happy place from the go, go, gone, lifestyle.
Retirement really helps

Get out of the door and light out and look all around

Got super bummed this AM.

My best choice is to ride. Since that was not on the table this was.

Alcohol. The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems :laughing

Music. I process emotions to music. The grateful dead became one of my favorite bands after helping me through a really shitty patch in my life.

I have other means but this is one of my favorite ways to help a mood.

Got some Rather disappointing news today. Plan on making myself a nice cocktail with dinner and watching some comedy on Netflix to help not get bummed out.

How do y'all unbum yourselves out?

Take the kids to Baskin Robbins, the movies, or both. I used to love listening to them play violin or piano. But forcing them to do the last activity runs this risk of pissing them off and I end up being more stressed out.

i pick up where i left off with my hobbies. work on my project car, go for a run, lift some weights, shoot some guns, make a new gun, build a new keyboard, 3d print something...

anything to keep busy really.

I think of good times with good people and smile.

I will also cuddle up on the dog bed with the Bossdog, he is a giant joy machine.

Go out in the garage and fix something. There is always something that needs to be fixed or rebuilt or made. Sometimes I get real obsessive and try to make something as perfect as I can get it, if the tolerance is +-.005, I'll try to make it +-.0002, or something stupid like that. A complete waste of time and energy, but it changes my focus from whatever is fucking with my head, into messing with this part.

Shutdown Facebook, reconnect with barf, snuggle with the doggo, and read a trash novel.

Workout till I’m bored and it hurts. Then keep going till the “aw fuckit we’re really doing this? Goddammit alright here fine” rush kicks in. Follow with protein shake, hot tub, and sleep.
