I have felt for awhile that my handlebars were uneven. I replaced the left after a track low-side, a long time ago. When changing the fork oil, I finally did a measurement, and it appears that the left clip-on end is approximately 1/2" higher than the right end from the ground.

The measurement from the top bridge to the bottom tree appears even at each fork. And the measurement from the top bridge to the frame at the stem seems equal on both sides.

Is it possible that my replacement OEM clip-on is different than the original? Or have I miss measured? Or should I try a measurement elsewhere? Or is my garage floor the poop, and I should have it leveled?

Most annoying to ride and I would like to fix this thingy, even if I buy a new right handle.

P.S. The bike doesn't seem to pull, so things seem straight. But, who knows. Maybe I am just compensating and don't realize it.

im assuming that both clip-ons are flush w/ the upper triple? is it possible that the right one is bent and the new replacement one is straight? also, how do u know that your bike is perfectly vertical? (my rearstand doesnt hold the bike level)

Well, the right could be bent, I suppose, but only from really gnarly panic braking. :laughing

I will measure the dang things with the bike off the front stand, then off the rear. And see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion. I figured they might be off a couple of degrees in angle at the clamp which could easily be 1/2" at the end.

I would try measuring to the front axle instead of the floor. Takes the "drunken contractor" factor out of it.:laughing

Yep - this. Too much else going on when measuring to the floor.

garage floors are rarely level.....they need to drain accumulated water. measure to a point on the bike that should be equal on both sides.

UUUMMM you mean like....uuummm...whats that thing called that goes through the middle of the front wheel?:rofl:twofinger

Try mounting the bars on the same side. Or on a properly sized tube for the purpose. If they aren't parallel, one or the other or both is bent.

Or, maybe you can find some way to measure the angle of each, relative to the fork tube.

i wasn't struggling to come up with a solution for the man (as that was posted above), just reinforcing the garage floor isn't a good idea.

Sorry to those who responded for forgetting about this thread. After careful analysis ............

It's my body that is uneven from a crash. Yes, I laid down on the floor with a level and discovered that, indeed, my left shoulder/arm is different than my right. This causes me all sorts of angst while cornering, braking, riding straight, and masturbating. I am more conscious of my short comings, and I am actively trying to even up my use of both hands.

The bike seems to measure-up okay. Thanks for the help. :thumbup
