Last week I think I saw a Dark Blue Kawasaki Concours on 680 South. Was parked behind a car on the shoulder, and it was positioned just like a CHP who had made a stop. Is this the next step in traffic enforcement?

I know in sf there are tOns of unmarked tahoes, and impalas and others.. Scare the shit out Me when I'm wheeling down a main street and I see one of

. Not sure about that but I know there are two ST 1300s in the southbay that are engaged in some sort of black ops. Probably working with local agencies. One is white with blue strips and the other black. Both have crash bars. Watch out for these guys. I hear they don't give any breaks.

The variety of unmarked cruisers and SUV's in the Presidio is overwhelming, and doesn't make sense to me, but my opinion isn't what matters... It's easy to see the advantages of an unmarked highway unit. Even if just for carpool violators. I have just never seen an unmarked Motor unit before. It may have been just a civilian bike.

Vehicles used specifically for traffic enforcement are required to be distinctively marked. I don't see a need/use for an unmarked motor. I've never seen one either.

Doesn't color-matching reflective "ghost" markings count?

ALL police cars, bikes, trucks. should be marked, so as to know that the red light behind you really is a leo.
way too often a crook gets a red light on his dash to pull people over to rob them. if all leo cruisers (etc) are marked we would know if it really is a cop or a crook.
as most out there are not even looking were they are going. how can they ever see a marked car with a light bar on top..hell even the light bars look like a ski rack these days.

.

It's hard to distinctively mark something as small as a motorcycle. Probably was a solid color bike with a vinyl sticker you missed.

Or it wasn't a cop at all....

I've seen San Mateo PD run a ratty black Windstar before. The Windstar will patrol for trouble (traffic and homeless from what I saw) and call marked units to scene.

Pretty stealthy.

It is probably those NYPD units running covert operations outside their jurisdiction again :laughing

Did the rider look like this guy? Oh wait, he's from Detroit.

sorry no photo, but stockton, ca. uses a duel sport bike for traffic. and "other".

.

SF also has dual sports out riding around.

I thought it was REALLY funny when I had a woman outside Kaiser watch me park my motorcycle (blue tank, white fairing, I was attgatt in black with blue & white helmet) and asked if I was a policewoman. :laughing
