Used Truck Suggestions Redux

Well, it's looking highly likely that I'm chucking vanity after all and keeping the car. After Laguna Seca this weekend, I'm going to give the cargo van a try.

Thanks all! :thumbup

Still waiting on a small Tacoma bike hauler w/Prius engine, 40 mpg would be nice. HURRY UP TOYOTA

Maybe for city driving, but you're never going to get that on the freeway. A big part of the prius' high freeway MPG is the aerodynamics. You're never going to get that on a truck, and the batteries aren't going to make much of a difference for long distance constant speed use.

My Dodge 1500 with a MT gets 18-20 mpg. It's a 5.2, six seater and I drive it like an old lady. Dodge interiors are inferior to Ford and Chebby. I'd take a F150 over any Dodge or Chevy offering.

IMO, the interior in my Avalanche LTZ is much nicer than an F150. My buddy came camping with us a couple years back with his brand new crew cab F150 and his wife jumped in our truck and couldn't believe how nice it was comparatively. Gave him shit about the F150 all weekend.

My truck preference would go beyond interior trim, but good to know Chevy has upped their game on interiors. It's nice to have quality choices.

Prius gets 50 mpg, so subtract 10 mpg for a lil' truck and you end up with a 40-mpg Tacoma. :x

BUILD IT

I have debated between trucks and vans. I am worried that once I have a Van, I'll leave all my track stuff inside and if someone steals my Van, my entire stuff will be gone (like what happened to Dave Moss a few years ago).

A truck forces me to unload and keep everything in my garage..

:laughing
50 mpg car * truck to car fuel coefficient = 40 mpg
40 mpg = big demand = $$$$$$$$$$

Unnecessary hood scoop is not aerodynamic and robs MPG though. :( :laughing

SUCCESS!

i think a tiny TDI diesel is the best way to get close to that mpg today. but even the TDI Touareg doesnt get 30mpg w/ a 3.0L, so ud have to go w/ a smaller engine and hope a truck has a better coefficient of friction (doubtful). even so, i wouldnt complain about getting close to 30mpg w/ a 4 door truck.
