Those who have purchased vintage bikes that are out of the dmv system how did your vin verification process go? I recently aquired a 73’ rd350 came with title. However the engine case number has been removed, while the neck tube vin remains intact and matches the title. Has anyone gone through a similar scenario? Just send it and have Chp acid etch the cases? Any info would be greatly appreciated

CHP doesn't etch anything. they'll apply an assigned identification number sticker on the case somewhere just like they'd do with a frame.

is there an EIN on the title?

Part of their verification process can be an acid etch to try and reveal the preexisting engine number to verify it isn't stolen. no ein on title. its in my best intrest to source new cases.
