If you haven't picked one up yet this is the last year anyone is making a plasma tv. Most manufacturers have stopped already. Picked up a 60" Samsung off their website for 699 plus tax and free shipping. Think the special is still going on and I'd recommend that route. No bells and whistles but you can get smart features built into your blu ray player if that's something you're looking for. 4k is pretty much a gimmick right now unless you sit ridiculously close to the screen or buy something a bit bigger than you're thinking about. Then Ofcourse there's still really no content anyways so I think your money should be spent on something other than worrying about resolution. Plasma shits on LCD displays in almost every single category, pays to do a little research. Also you do have to look at part numbers for some lower end tv's since the panels come out of a lottery as was stated by Rel earlier. Good luck!
Yes, I'm a huge Plasma fan as well despite the heat thrown off and the spike in the electrical usage when it is turned on.
I'll be sad when my 60" Panny Plasma croaks but, I'm sure, by then, there will be a value priced non Plasma alternative that has as good a picture, (which is not true today).
EDIT: I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Vizio but, as with most TV's, do some research to find a good picture setting using resources available on CNET, LCD/LED TV Buying Guide or the geeks on the AVS Forum. Finding a custom setting that is pleasing to your eye makes all the difference. Hell, I've even got friends who hook up the cable to their TV, as well as an HDMI cable, and end up watching SD on their HD set because the set "defaults" to the cable input rather than the HDMI input. When I see that the first thing I do is unplug the cable from their TV and explain to them to use the HD channels, not the SD channels. Sounds stupid but have had to do that twice.
