Want a helmet before I take MSF course - East Bay shop recommendations for new rider?

Just pick up a head sock like this one. Some riders like to match their helmet color to their bike. Some end up finding out motorcycles are not for them. Take the course, then figure out what you want.

I have a number of helmets that I don't wear anymore. Most are newer than 5 years old and none have been crashed. If you are going to find yourself in Emeryville (I work there) let me know and I can bring some in for you to try on. If one fits, you can have it for free.

I bought a cheap bilt helmet for 39.99 from cycle gear before i took my msf course. I would highly recommend it, the helmet at the msf course was beat and pretty sure it smells. there's a cycle gear in concord

If you're in Berkeley, it's easier to get to SoMa and the MC shops there than it is to the Cycle Gear in Concord.

Also, BARF is full of princesses, just deal with the MSF helmets. Thousands of people have gone through the course and worn the gross helmets and lived.

Or you could buy a cheap helmet (they protect just as well), like a Built from Cycle Gear and upgrade later, or you may find you like the helmet and save some $$.

The MSF loaner helmets were a bit smelly, usable, but some people were a bit grossed out.

Exactly what I did. Bought a built for 80, used it for my first few months, upgraded to an agv k4 evo afterwards.

I thought 80 was a fine investment for msf and parkinglot riding with the added benny that I was getting a second helm for someone else

When I bought my helmet I went to Cycle Gear first and tried them on, once I decided what I wanted I bought it online, which ended up saving me a ton of money. Also, the employees at these stores are generally pretty knowledgeable with this kind of thing and will help you choose the right helmet. I bought my helmet before I took the class.
