If so, do you have two Jerry Cans or a broken window A/C unit that I could borrow?

Long story short, I'm helping the SF Playhouse (on Sutter St. in SF) gather some props for their next play, with literally no budget.

If you happen to have a beat up Jerry Can (two, actually) that we could borrow, I'll comp you tickets to any performance* during the 6 week run.

If you happen to have a dead (ideally it'll have a functioning fan, but is otherwise dead) window A/C unit that we could have - same thing, two comps to any performance*.

I can pick up the stuff at your convenience this week and drop it off when the play is over.

PM me for more info.

Thanks all!

FWIW, the play synopsis is:
In a seedy motel room outside Oklahoma City, Agnes, a drug-addled cocktail waitress, is hiding from her ex-con ex-husband. Her partying lesbian friend R.C. introduces her to Peter, a handsome drifter who might be an AWOL Gulf War veteran. They soon begin a relationship that takes place within the increasingly claustrophobic confines of her motel room. A hidden bug infestation problem has Peter believing it is the result of experiments conducted on him during his stay at an army hospital. Their fears soon escalate to paranoia, conspiracy theories and twisted psychological motives. (Recommended for 17 and over)

* "Any performance" translates to "2 tickets to any performance where the ticket prices are normally $38." Unfortunately, opening night is not one of those nights. Hell, I'm not even going to opening night, and I'm building the set!

Curious - why the intentional mention of "WHITE". Would it just not read right if you omit that word:

"Want to help bring a play about crackheads in Oklahoma to fruition?" <- what's wrong with that?

You know, if you said "black" - everyone would call you racist and shut you down. But racism is not an equal opportunity employer...

The topic of this thread is that I'm offering theatre tickets to a play about white crackheads in Oklahoma in exchange for a favor. End of off-topic discussion.

If worse comes to worse a thrift store or Salvation army might have a cheapo jerry can or air conditioner.

Yup, but totally worst case scenario... any cash is coming out of my pocket, and $ is really tight these days - to the point that I'm shutting down my business and going back to the corporate world. :(

or, you can just rent the DVD "Bug", flick released last year with Ashley Judd. Same story, exactly. So-so film

Yes I would like to help, but no I can't...damn, just got rid of an old wall unit a/c

Oh, I've been here a long while, and I'm fully aware of T-1, and I know some b.s. is par for the course.

I was wringing my hands last night, resisting the temptation to elaborate on my response to his post, but ultimately chose not to.

The implication that I am/was racist (or at minimum, that I was making a racist statement) was so beyond comprehension that I knew taking his bait would lead me to posting "Me too" on the "How many people have been "on a break"?" thread after my suspension was over. :rolleyes

If you lack confidence in your maturity and sophistication to respond without getting banned, I feel sorry for you.
I don't think you're racist. I think you're complacent and insensitive.

So you know about me, huh? :thumbup

Don't worry, I'm not the madman they make me out to be. I'm actually a very nice person, I simply like to explore the psychology in people that allows them to act in a certain way and not expect static, knowing damn well if they acted the other way -they'd get pummeled.

I often see a very "loose" approach to dissing white people. From the same people this comes from, I see "fear" in doing so with black people.

Personally, I treat them all equally. Black, white, red - they are all the same.

You can bet your tail if I did a play about white crackheads, I'd also do one about black crackheads - without fear of being accused of being racist.

You don't have to respond, I know you don't want to. Don't let me piss you off, I'm sure I speak for more persons than 1 - just put it in the bank of perspective. ;)
