Hey barfers,
Trying to figure out whether I should throw down about 900.00 for an Alpinestars SP-1 one-piece suit. Did my first trackday recently and I’ve got more coming up, so I know I’m going to need a one piece, but is this the right one? Anybody own one and want to weigh in? Or are there other/different/better suits for the same price or less that I should look into? I want to make sure that if I’m spending that much cash that I’m doing the right thing. I know some will suggest much more expensive suits, or having a custom suit made, but I’m low on cash and I think I fit an A stars size 38 OTR (they say ball crushingly tight is a good thing) and I don’t have enough skrill for like a helimot or a Dainese or something. Any advice, suggestions or reviews are appreciated.

also, in terms of fit: should you get the smallest suit you can fit into? the sizing chart says for my height I should wear a us 40, but the 38 was skin tight mostly but felt alright, ankles and wrists maybe a few cm high...but it was better when I got into a riding position. How much do these things stretch/increase in size with age and wear? How can you tell if a suit is too small?

Thanks :thumbup

It looks like a great suit... I am waiting until Barf Bash to check out a new TILT suit and see how it compared to some of the A* and other OTR suits I have seen..

So who can tell me whether i should go too small or a tiny bit too large in some areas. The 40 is a tiny bit big in on my scrawny thighs/butt, the 38 is really tight everywhere and gets stretched when i wear it, pulling down on my shoulders and up on my crotch...I wonder if this is just the issue everyone faces with OTR suits....

... pulling down on my shoulders and up on my crotch...

One piece leathers are cut to fit right when you're riding, not standing up. They are supposed to be tight in the front from shoulders to crotch when you're standing up. Unless you're doing nothing but track, buy a 'Stich. You'll thank me later.

whatever you do take your time and try/wear/shop spend time walking around in it. every manufacturer has a little different cut. Tall/Lean/Regular/Short/husky... Check fit across belly/forearms as well as the usual. Also consider what/where youll be doing your trackdays at... T-Hill in June/July/August is very hot and youll need perforated suit!
Infineon in spring and late fall will be too cold for perforated....YMMV.
