+1!! or any kind of shooting for that matter. Ive always wanted to learn but dont own a gun and boys dont keep their promises when they say they will teach you to shoot :laughing I would love to go if anyone is willing to show me the ropes and get me started.. and also lend me a gun to use :) unless they rent them..

They dont rent guns but a few of us here can meet early to show some people whats going on. prior to a real shoot.
Once a firm date is set we will go for it

Caution all if you use my guns you will come home brused!!!

Ha, that's no joke. Well, if you can't do next Wednesday, I'd be down for the following one but that is also Thanksgiving eve, so not sure how many would be willing.

As an aside, a bunch of people from calguns.net are going to Chabot the day after Thanksgiving for a shoot BBQ. I'll bump the thread here up for that. It is usually a very good time.

And if anyone wants to learn how to shoot (from a crappy shot :shhh ) or has a type of gun they want to try, let me know and I'll try and help you out. They also do trap there.

I'm in if I am not working. I used to go there all the time. It is fun and a great way to unwind.

Ratters................. Go over the Benicia bridge, get off at the

Marina Vista exit, take a right turn under the freeway, go down

until you see a right turn at Waterbird Way(if you go up and over

the railroad tracks you missed the turn), follow that past the

Martinez transfer station(the dumps) to the end of the street and

you pretty much run right into the gun club.


I should be able to bring a couple of 12 guages.

I'll even bring the Bolt-action Mossberg and break some targets.

raises hand.. i want to learn!! :teeth does anyone have a smaller gun.. perhaps one that doesnt have too much kick? or any suggestions of one?

The best you can do is a semiauto in 20 guage, but come on, the bruised shoulder is half the fun. :teeth I'd lend you one but sorry, don't have one. You are welcome to borrow a 12 though.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there. And thanks Silversix for the directions. I think I remember seeing the signs the last time I was at the dumps over there.

I recomend a Pump for beginers so they only have 1 shott for first pull!!!
And I also recomend a 20 gauge cause the 12 can hurt
Fees= shells you can get your own or buy them there. they sell for $6.50 for a box of 25

Shooting = $6.00 for 25 shots.
I spoke with some of the members and I can get a trainer or 2 for this event

I will come out next Wednesday. I have several shotguns and I would be happy to loan a few to the beginners. Love shooting Trap been doing it since I was 10.

I need to have you out to Black Pointe for a real day of shooting. :)

I'm a beginner, and I definitely want to learn. I'm clear on the safety issues with regular shooting in ranges (finger off trigger until ready to shoot, always point gun down range, etc.) but would love another overview and then a new lesson for skeet shooting.

*Edit - I think I will pass on next week, let me know when you're doing it again Dan.

I belong to the Hunt Club out there, we should totally bring the dogs and plant some birds, let them work the fields for a couple hours. We could get our shoot on. I am glad I have Wednesdays free, so I will be seeing you out there.
