I probably should think about that.
Well, I can't speak to Windows machines.
On our Macs, we use Time Machine to back up to local USB drives. Which, while imperfect, is painless to start and Just Works(tm) (until it, you know, fails).
So, anyway its cheap and easy piece of mind with just a local USB drive.
That said, I also have subscribed to BackBlaze.
They're $100/yr right now, "set and forget" and backs up the data on my machine (but not my wife's laptop) to The Cloud(tm).
This is mostly for the "fire raging through the house" off site back up.
I have never used it for recovery, I hope it works if I need it (knock on wood).
I know Apple has an offisite backup solution (for a fee), notably for phones and iPads. I assume MS does as well. I have no experience with either, while we have Macs, we don't really use iCloud.
