Reached max limit of poll. So if you owned a brand not listed here, select "Others" and post what it was.

Alta, Bultaco, BSA, GasGas, Matchless, CZ, Sears-Roebuck, Sherco, Norton, Moto Guzzi, Hodaka, Gilera, Derbi and so on should have made this poll choice.

My other is GasGas, and we owned 3 of them in the early 2000’s.

seven poll participants, seven votes for Suzuki (100%). :laughing 🥳

imagine that will change.

my “other” vote was for a Motobecane moped, which would’ve been made in France in the 1970s.

:ride

Suzuki just kinda happened, needed a dual sport and the DRZ is kinda the go to unless you ride like Pol Tares I think...

Aside from that, a few Honda 600s, then I got hooked on v-twin sumos so I have the Hyper and the KTM 950sm. I should probably branch out, but I don't have the garage space for that.

Yamaha, Yamaha, Honda, Honda, BMW, BMW, and a random Chinese 50cc scooter mixed in there somewhere.

What no BSA's? Ha, ha... a not street legal BSA 441 Victor. Me and a buddy in high school bought it for 100 Bucks. Kept it at his house cause his folks were cool and I knew the answer I'd get at home. :shame That thing was a mean MFer to kick over and torquey as shit!. Sadly, it never made it through that summer, my buddy crashed it pretty hard when we were out riding down and jumping over the railroad tracks.

For me my first was a 1981 Suzuki GS650G. A shaft drive bike. My next, and last, was a 1992 Honda ST1100 with ABS and traction control. I tend to keep things for a while.

My others. Maico, BSA, Ossa. Plus a Mazue (put a Suzuki motor in the Maico when it blew up).

BMW : "Bikes Made Weirdly"
Buell : " Hold my beer ..."
yes, I currently own both

With 27 responses.. here are some stats. Not particularly useful. DataDan is probably laughing at this LOL

Top 3 brand ownership by BARFers
Honda: 23
Suzuki: 21
Yamaha: 20

27 owners have had 169 brands. Avg = 6.00 brands (rounded down from 6.25. "Others" 11 may have some repeats ). Average is not really that good of a stat but that is all the data we have. Not surprising for BARF. Enthusiast riders and older demographics typically have time, money and interest to try many brands.

Ownership by Country of origin (others excluded)
Japan 79
Italy 20
USA. 19
Germany 18
Austria 14
UK 6
India 1

Sample size is way too small to make any concrete claims but trends mostly falls in line with expectation / general observation. I am a bit surprised that of the 27 voters, majority of them have owned multiple Japanese brands and a BMW.

Other: BSA, Norton, Benelli, Moto Guzzi!

Below, 1967 BSA Lightning. Had from 1980 to 2008.

Thanks for the summary. I had noted the high BMW number as it surprised me.
