What do you find most appalling about bike culture?

Now now wiffledaddy you're wrong
He's God's very own gift to motorcycling

my biggest gripes....
1. People expecting me to fit into a culture. I ride a sport bike, why? Because I like the way it looks, sounds, feels, and handles. Sure it is fast, but does that mean that every minute of every ride I have to drag knee or be doing a wheelie or be trying to be the fastest in the twisties? Why can't I just cruise the damn thing sometimes? Sure, I know its a "race replica" or whatever you want to call it, who cares!

2. The gear nazis and the people who care sooo much about what others do. Sure I wear most gear most the time, but I figure if someone else doesnt it is their choice. (albeit a dumb one) Who cares if they are a squid, there is no reason to go off showing off how many squids you saw today or to take a picture? give me a break and get a life

I don't know that I find it appalling per se, however, people who cultivate what I consider to be "bike culture" just for the sake of being part of a group tend to get under my skin. Personally, I could care less, but joe public sees that person and thinks, I guess all bikers are like that. When in fact, we're all very different.

As to misogynists who don't think women can or should ride ... well, the world needs men with little dicks too so can't hold that against anyone. Maybe a nap would help. :twofinger

It's appalling that one type of riders hates on another so much, as evident in the BARF.

Some cagers and the ignorant general public hate us enough. All this internal hatred just brings us (the motorcycle community) down as a group.

Can't say I see anything wrong with being part of a 'greater' group and having a sense of belonging. Be it the neighborhood watch, church, fantasy baseball league, pedophile dungeons and dragons clubs and so on people like to be surrounded by those who have a similar interest.

Sometimes I get bored hanging with non-moto people because I want to talk about bikes and they don't.

I just don't understand the Revving while parked, stopped at a light, going 5mph b.s. "LOOK AT MEEEEE !!!!", or blocking the freeway to do wheelies... other than that, I like the variety :teeth

(beginning to middle)
What bothers me sometimes is the cliquiness. Harley riders make fun of Jap cruisers. BMW riders make fun of Harley riders. Sport bike riders make fun of BMW riders. And everyone makes fun of squidly sportbike riders. I've ridden in each group and people are always making fun of someone. Usually it's in good fun but some people really seem to have a chip on their shoulder.

My recent visit to Laguna Seca confirmed a new and disturbing trend. Outlaw biker culture and the chopper are on the way out as the hip thing for posers to emulate. Custom sport bikes with garish paint jobs, ghetto stickers, hidden license plates, and no mirrors are on the way in. Some of the sportbikes I saw at Laguna were even more unrideable than the most stretched out chopper. And don't get me started on the squids that ride them. You know who they are: the type of people who will spend hundreds of dollars on a undertail kit and HID lights when they can't tune their own suspension, never been to a track day, and don't even own a decent riding jacket. Their freeway antics and lack of riding skill hurts the reputation of the motorcycle community and may have consequences for us all.

I am afraid you're a day late a dollar short. I saw machines like these years ago...the last time I attended the races at Laguna Seca was back in 2003 and even then there was a plethora of blinged-out, neon-toting stretched sportbikes. I was hoping that this trend would go away but, alas, it's been sticking around since. :|

Oh boy, this has the potential to get ugly....

Okay, I'll go. The main thing I have found tiresome about biker culture is misogyny. It seems less common than it used to be, but I don't know if that's true, or I'm just ignoring it.
Bikers hate women? :wtf

Scout, you really are a child aren't you? You have to keep creating duplicate accounts to try and share your views. Are you incapable of standing behind your opinions and views? Are you afraid? What is the issue here? Why are you unable to act like a human?

You are sad, sad, sad.
