A few points.

Sex brings complications, especially when it's not happening after a normal progressive relationship. I think that the hookup culture has not been good for guys or girls, cheating is far easier and more likely in that kind of environment.

For men, dating can get very expensive and often either the man spends too much to try to impress women or women drive men towards spending too much. Dating has always been expensive for men, but prices have gone up substantially in the last few years, making a date even more expensive, and after going through all of that expense it would be frustrating to find that the woman you've spent $$$$$$ on gave it up to a bunch of guys for just hookups where the guys just hooked up with them over an app and didn't spend any money on wooing them.

Dating has changed over the last couple decades and I don't think it has moved in a positive diretion.

My :2cents

Call me crazy, but I believe poor diet and the chemical additives in processed foods have disrupted hormone levels to reduce the sex drive in teens and young adults. I think the growth of the whole "sex isn't worth the effort" movement would be impossible otherwise.

I love a declining population, but also hate pretty much all large scale ag and corporate packaged foods. Hmm...tough choices.

Don't blame the shit-sandwich-chef, blame the demand for shit-sandwiches.

There's a lot of claims in that article with no evidence or sources. Someone can write down a few things that suck in society, make up connections that sound plausible, and publish it at The Atlantic? IMO, that's a bigger problem with the internet.
Wait, what? The Atlantic is the Internet?!? when did that happen… :)

Speaking of a problem with the internet…your opinion is quoted above , basically. :dunno

As for the OP, I will read it first :rofl

That blade has two edges. The other edge was not mentioned.

No one can successfully tell me that woman don't look at porn. Ferchrisesakes, the pope just recently admonished the nuns in a Rome convent about looking at porn. I never hear about dire consequences if wimmen are looking at visual stimulation.

Oh, and the linked column was so full of ambiguities it was all sizzle and no steak.

This trend will only get worse with sex robots and AI girlfriends. Hell, one guy I know claims AI therapists have shown him more empathy and connection than real therapists have. Of course, he's Gen Z, so I'm not surprised. They spend so much of their life behind a screen, they wouldn't know what those two words mean.

And the problem isn't porn as much as online dating and social media. Guys get all butt-hurt that their dating profiles aren't getting any hits, so they give up and blame it on "Western women with too high standards", only because social media promotes cherry-picked interviews of drunk women on the street saying they prefer tall guys with big dicks and 500K salaries.

So, couldn't they just approach women in real life instead? No, they make bullshit excuses like "I don't wanna get charged with harrassment" :rolleyes :ROFLMAO:

Again, just laziness and lack of people skills

Nowhere did I claim that The Atlantic is the internet.

I made no claims that my opinion is fact. The word "opinion" is right there in my post, albeit shortened. The article presents nearly all opinions as fact with no evidence. Your critical thinking about any topic should have a problem with that.

Oh definitely read the article. It has some interesting ideas. But maybe don't "believe" anyone with a platform.

Meh. All of my girlfriends knew I love watching porn and the percentage of my interest in not having sex with them as much as possible is zero.

The quote "Everyday and twice on Sunday" comes to mind. Sure, some guys have a bad addiction to porn but what's the point of singling out porn? People get addicted to a lot of things.

Also, why is there always so much focus on what porn does to men? Why do people act like women don't like porn too?

I use porn from time to time. My wife died a bit over 3 and a half years ago and she wasn’t sexually active for the last three or more years of her life because of her Alzheimer’s. I don’t watch any kinky or wierd stuff. IBut it’s all I have now. I’m 73 but I still have a strong sex drive. But I’m not going to bring another woman into my life. I’m happy and will leave all I own to my 11 siblings.
