I've heard a lot about Hondas and Kawasaki's being really reliable bikes. I can say with experience that my Versys was very reliable, never any kind of mechanical problems whatsoever. I didn't like the maintenance schedule though. While not bad by today's standard it still needed, valve checks, brakes and brake lines, tires, chains, sprockets and coolant changed.

Now that I got a Victory I'm hoping for the same kind of reliability with even less maintenance. I know J.D. Powers ranked Victories as #1 in customer satisfaction and reliability. Thats my 2 cents.

Whats your take? What is the most reliable motorcycle. I think maintenance should play into this as well.

A properly maintained motorcycle.

Never had a problem with any bike I've owned regardless of country of origin.

SVs can take a lot of abuse and neglect. Their cousins the V-Stroms rack up the miles.

I've heard a lot of good things about sv650's and reliability and there sure are a lot of them around.

Zero DS >> No maintenance & always reliable ;)

Other e-bikes owners please give your :2cents

My aprilia rsvr was more reliable than the jap bikes I've owned...... Go figure.

Yes, I have heard about some Apes having some electrical problems.

I haven't had my FZ6 long enough to know first hand. But one of the reasons I bought it was because of it's high maintenance intervals and reliability.

Are all Hondas reliable or is it just confined to their sport bikes?

It's not the bike. It's the owner.

Moe often than not, this. ^^^

My first 1986 FZ600(air-cooled, two-valve, 4cyl.) had over 60K miles of mostly canyon racing when I sold it. Last time I saw it, for service, it had 98K miles and still ran great! :wow
One of my GSXR 1Ks had over 70K mostly canyon and track, never needed a valve adjust and still had the original clutch in it... :ride

I can see how constantly tinkering and wrenching on your bike could add to it's reliability.:laughing

I've had a few "failures" that I don't think maintenance could have prevented. ABS computer failure on one. Stators on a couple. Fuel pump went out on one. Interesting that these are all electrical failures. The only "mechanical" failure I've ever had was with a BMW model that had known rear drive bearing failure issues -- since resolved I'm told.

Don't believe any of these could have been prevented by maintenance.

I've owned a lot of bikes and at this point in time motorcycles are very reliable. Sure there will always be bikes with certain issues but most owners have no problems for years. The last bike I owned that needed warranty work was back in the 70s.
