What mean "delta"?

No, I don't hear "delta" I lot, but I sure hear "meta" and "metadata" a lot.
Still don't know WTF they are talkin' about.

Meta is the Greek word for 'after', or 'beyond'. Metadata is data about data, or more specifically "data about the containers of data". It can also imply the application of data in data.

The easiest way to relate metadata to your real world understanding would be an old school brick and mortar library. Wherein the library contains massive amounts of data in the form of books, and the card index would be the metadata telling you where to specifically find the data you are looking for.

Really. Huh. Thanks. Ms. BA's cousin-in-law is a Silicon Val computer genius guy and he keeps throwing that term around. Will see him soon and try and apply this explanation.

The Delta is where you can drive the Chevy to the Levy. Beware of the drunks if the Levy is dry. The entire ordeal is the death of Music btw.

Re: software... usually it's information attached or associated with some piece of code or computer object.

A lot of digital cameras include metadata along with each picture. The picture is the data. The file can also contain things like GPS location, aperature, time...
You don't see that stuff when you look at the picture (usually) but it can be in there.

Or an icon on you computer desktop. The icon is the data. The metadata associated with it points to the program to start or what to do when you click it.
