What to do? Assholes while lane splitting

Somebody who feels like it can respond to the Queen of the Road (CC Times) from over the weekend. Yet another driver felt personally offended that some darn biker lane-shared (though accused of doing it quite fast) then made the classic statement "no wonder there are so many motorcycle accidents." This, just days after a car crossed a road and killed two innocent people on a Harley in the vicinity, the whole bang-up caused by a boat-hole driving a pickup trailering a jet-ski..

The Queen, in response, says she favors outlawing lane sharing. So one of you with sufficient bile is welcome to tell her to shove it. I'm tired of writing letters and bein' the activist all the time (plus they won't print my letters anyway, being a known suspect). You guys (all genders implied) are younger and madder! Go for it.

I'll repeat myself. People in cars with cellphones and textyphones are the single biggest and chronic group of dangerous drivers out there, dwarfing the cyclists, whose real crime is having gaily colored (yeah, I know, I couldn't help it) machines so they get noticed. But the sin of the former will kill the latter.

Yeah, if she didn't have a regular column, which isn't bad, it wouldn't be something to address. For the most part, she notifies authorities about things wrong, etc and gets em fixed. I was dismayed to see her opinion on this because I generally like the column.

I was on Yelp one day trying to figure out if there was some kind of guide to cycle parking in various Bay Area towns and ran across a thread of people who resent cyclists taking up a WHOLE PAID parking spot and secretly just want to knock over their bikes, etc etc. Ugh. When you see it as a "confession" it really kills ya.

I was on a bird-watching forum and I came across a hiker who deliberately puts down branches and rocks to "slow down" mountain bikers. She used the euphenism "baffle" to describe, but felt empowered to do this thing which could hurt or even kill a cyclist.

That's the problem with paying attention; you keep running across this dangerous stupidity. No choice on the road, though.

Yep. Let's not forget about the majority. And as someone else mentioned, a fair number of drivers out there are also riders.

Why not take note of the license plate, vehicle description and report it here?

Anyone who makes an aggressive move on a motorcyclist that endangers them is worthy of reporting and barf can be a conduit for reporting these people....right the F - on.

I will start a thread on reporting these ..people and let see if it makes a difference.

I scared the boots off a few motorcyclist doing that.. pull up next to em, wave em over.. rev it up, kill it.. turn it on.. BOOOM :rofl

It may blow out your exhaust. That would suck... My Sportster was awesome at this..It had steel baffles and it ran rich.. I scared the crap out of one of my buddies on the way to Vegas one time.. I laugh everything I think about it, he was truly scared and upset.. Specially since I did it to him at like 75mph.. I motioned him close to me and let him have it.. :laughing

Back when I had a baja bug with the stinger exhaust, I used to get a 2-foot blue flame out the tailpipe using a similar technique... :laughing

Actually, that's the better idea. And have it rigged so that when it uses up the memory (no tapes and such for this camera), it starts overwriting the earliest part of the recording. If something happens, just shut the camera off and you've got everything leading up to the incident.
