I was at the Post Office today and there is limited parking, maybe around 10-12 spots, its pretty cramped when it gets full. As I was leaving, I saw a guy in a car park in a spot clearly labeled "motorcycle parking". Would it have been worth to do something about this? Or is this a non-issue? As a rider, I felt I would have been a bit ticked off if I was riding at the time and saw a car parked in the designated space.

Is it worth getting your ass kicked?

I suppose you could have approached him in a friendly way and said that you think it's sort of uncool to do that. And then walked away.

Generally talking to those kinds of people really doesn't do much. It's not like you're making him aware of something that he'd never thought of. He's knows it's uncool--he just doesn't care. He'd probably rather that he didn't catch a bunch of flack for it though, so making a point of saying that it bothers you probably serves to discourage him a little. Usually they counter with something about lane-sharing, parking between cars, having a loud exhaust, basically anything to justify their knuckle-headedness.

I'd also like to know what if any repercussions there are (besides getting my ass kicked) from parking on here because I would like to park in the motorcycle parking in my cage once in awhile. :laughing :party

Ticket-wise I think the meter-nazis are perfectly happy to slap a green envelop on your windshield for parking your 4-wheeler in 2-wheel parking. And then there's the ass-kicking that may or may not happen from the disenfranchised rider. More likely is someone messing with your rig or blocking you in if you pull that. It's been posted more than once on here.

Just get out your tube of red lipstick, and write "Motorcycle parking only, Douche Canoe!" on the driver side window! :teeth

I big lady parked in a moto only spot as I was comming into the same shopping center. She got out and I parked my bike in the closest spot to her driver side door.

We both happened to be going back to our rides at the same time, but her just a bit before me. It was pretty entertaining to see her try to fit her big ass into her barely open door in a few different directions(left hip first....nope, maybe right hip.....nope :rofl)..

She saw me approaching and said "Now why you go and do that?" I simply pointed to the ground and said "Motorcycle parking".

I took my time to put my gear on and move to make room for her.

Hilarious, but I never have the balls to do the same thing myself. I figure that the driver will either A) Slam their door into my bike, scraping it or B) just push it over

not unless i wanted the parking spot there. Who knows, he coulda been in and outta there with no harm done. why cause the extra grief...

How bout I would find a parking spot, TCOB, smile and enjoy the fact that I try not to sweat the small droppings.

If that dont work try thinking of the person being a confused old lady who really needed that spot and did not pay attention to the sign.

What is it about BARF and parking that turns people into such petulant little assholes? If you are on a motorcycle, you should be able to find parking just about anywhere, why worry?

Also, using a motorcycle, which can easily be moved or knocked over, to block access to someone's car is not a well considered strategy.

Busta cap in his ass! :twofinger

If I was in a car, too, I wouldn't say anything. If on the bike, though, I'd take the time to ask, somewhat nicely, if he/she would take a handicapped spot, too, if it happened to empty when they arrived.:|

I had a bit of a run in with a punk kid this past weekend when I stopped at a strip mall. There is only 1 handicapped spot and I'm still using a cane and find walking long distances difficult. He happened to be going into the same store and when I got inside (girlfriend just dropped me off and did a couple of loops) I made a comment about parking in the handi spot. He apologized (in that smartass way) and said he didn't see the handicapped plate. I said "that's because it's a tag that hangs from the mirror". He smarted off and said "well that's not my problem then, feel me?" I looked at him, then my carbon fiber cane and back at him and said "You know, some day soon enough it will matter to you. Being a punk about it just means you'll be in a worse shape than I am and that's when karma will pay you back. A designated spot is still a designated spot". He just shook his head and walked off.

I know that's handicapped vs. moto parking but still along the same lines. That's always been a pet peeve of mine that a spot that's marked off is still a spot that's marked off regardless of how long you're going to be. :mad
