does this belong in general? or garage?

i was filling something today with a stupid 'no spill' gas can. took me a while to figure out how to use it at all, but even then it of course spilled all over the place including my hands.

what now? unfortunately it wasn't in a place with good facilities, so i could only rinse my hands off 5 minutes later with water.

what to do now, hours later? mosturizer (the gas presumably dried out my hands)? something else?

no, this isn't the first time i've done this... but it always makes me wonder what to do! i found some suggestions online which included licking your hands and using a match...

Wash your hands wwith soap and warm water. Don't jack/jill off till the smell of gasoline goes away*

*do as i say....

Hold on to it until prices go back up. Profit!

Wash them?

I've used gas to wash grease and the like off my hands many a time. It's not a go to, but when I've needed to it's worked with no adverse effects.

Bring hands to nose.
Inhale.
Repeat till satisfied.

Yep. Stop wasting good gasoline. Cup your hands over your face and huff.

BTW: it's easy to defeat those cans. They're all crap and a PITA.

Gojo wipes work good. You can put a couple in a ziplock (in your any contingency MC kit) and even if they dry out, just wet them and they'll work. Grease, oil, gas....cleans it off and removes the smell as well.

Back before OSHA we used to wash our hands with JP8 :afm199

:laughing

Seriously though wash it with a heavy duty soap (dish soap works) until the smell is gone. Gasoline is a major skin irritant and will itch/burn/rash.

Back in high school I was working on a friend's moped and spilled gas all over my shoes. I went to school the next day as normal and was out by 2nd period..my feet were burning and itching and otherwise not doing so well. Had to toss the shoes.

Put latex gloves on so that the gasoline absorbs through your skin and makes your farts more flammable.

A maintenance guy a company where I once worked used to wash his hands with brake cleaner. Eventually it broke down the fat in his skin/under his skin. I don't remember exact details but it resulted in irreversible serious damage.
I think gasoline would probably have a similar effect if used for same purpose.

yeah, washing your hands with it frequently is stupid. There are many better solutions.

However, it's still a killer solvent and good when used.
