What went wrong?

I wouldn't call that "crazy speed" by any definition. How many of you go up 9 at speed limit? Hmm?

If you weren't riding beyond your skills (too fast, no matter what the posted limit is), why would braking inevitably put you on the ground?

Too much front brake while bike is leaned over, stemmed from seeing a cop and moment of panic. Which is basically what happened in that video.

In other words, riding over his head. Posted speed is not the issue, (lack of) skill is.

How is speed not an issue? At least the perception of speeding, anyway. How many people just hit the brakes "instinctively" every time they see a cop? I could understand doing that if you're on the freeway doing 80, but not if you were doing 70. What other reason do you have to hit the brakes just because you see a cop sitting on the side of the road?

I wouldn't say riding over his head, but poor braking control in panic situation sure.

Sure he was going over the speed limit, but as I said how man of you go up 9 doing 35?

Do people go on that faster then speed limit on that road? Sure, most do. Probably why the cop was there.

That's not the point. When people see a cop and they think or are breaking the law instinctive reaction is to hit the brakes. The location of where he parked his car is a guarantee some one will wad it. We can argue about skill or rather lack of in "emergency" situation all day long, but again that's not the point. Some people have better or worse skills then others. Skills tend to degrade in panic situation, like seeing a cop and knowing you are doing something wrong. So parking where he did, knowing behavior on that piece of road, and people behavior drastically increases chances of people crashing.

It's a poor location to park, it's all I am saying.

Poor braking control, but not riding over his head? :wtf Right. I believe that's known as a distinction without a difference.

Look we can argue nuisances of what qualifies as riding over the head until cows come home, but that's not my point. As I stated earlier.

I've been behind plenty of people who are already going UNDER the speed limit freak out and get on the brakes when going by a LEO. Cops just make some people nervous. Speed limit and perception of speed might not have anything to do with it.

I love to be a nuisance while arguing nuance. If you can't get down the road and stay on your wheels when dealing with a wide variety of reasonably probable events (Look! A cop on a racer road! Never expected that!), you're riding over your head.

Again that is not my point.

P.S. I can get down a road just fine, cop or no cop. Unless you meant it as a plural.

After reviewing the video and reading all 52 posts I have come up with the definitive answer to "What went wrong."

The rider put the key into the motorcycle and started it !

Well, it looks to me as if he may have hit something on the chassis and unloaded the rear tire causing the low side. JMHO.

I got caught out on a corner like that with law enforcement parked just past the apex..all I could come up with was a piece sign to him as I was way off the bike. The Lonster was right behind me and the officer gave him a thumbs up :thumbup
Some days are just better than others.:laughing

Indicating that you were in control and riding within your limits, rather than grabbing a handful of brake and scattering your shit all over the road. :laughing
