What will it take to convince you of climate change?

Nobody has answered my question yet: what kinds of studies/evidence will you need to convince you this is real, not a plot by Al Gore to sell books?
 
this is a hard one gabe.

How do you conclusively find enough data to prove this (in our lifetime)? IMHO any study needs to be repeatable with the same results. Right now I just think this is too politically fueled and there is too much money to be made...

I assume it to be true because we (mankind) affects everything we touch.

Last year on May 31st I had 2 inches of snow in my yard in NorCal.
Just last Wed I was in Flagstaff, Az and it was snowing.

I don't recall snow in May while growing up. I recall wearing shorts and driving around with the windows down.

how come people always say there "too much money to be made" and all that stuff, and never argue the cpunter point that most of the CC deniers are fueld by industry that has a vested interest in the status quo, and too much money to be made to change

It's an easy answer for some......when they stop listening to Rush Limbaugh or some other talking head that has been paid to preach the lines. :|

Ah, irony.

I guess when there is incontrivertible evidence that man is causing it. Climate change happens, always had, always will. The question is how much we are affecting it, is that even a problem, and if it is, what to do about it. Personally I think humans do cause a portion of it, but the prescribed cures so far are much worse than the disease.

Global warming isn't something that has been pulled out of a hat in the last decade. The theory has been around since the 50's when they were getting hard data from ice samples. Then it was only the geeks talking about it amongst themselves and it wasn't until the journeymen and crusaders latched on that it took off. Global warming has been an accepted theory with those people who actual know what the fuck the data means for decades.

It's like Einstein, whether or not you believed his theory's was irrelevant to him. He did the math and your ignorant opinion as to his conclusions was of no concern to him.
 
Gotta be a saying - to the effect can't believe people who stand to make huge monetary gains by pushing bogus science.
It's akin to Snake Oil Salesman of the Old West. You get a bunch of folk who believe the sales pitch.
This stuff is being pushed by people who are more motivated by power and money. This time using the environment as a catalyst.
 
For me I need to watch the behaviors of the climate drivers. Monitoring ocean currents, distribution of water vapor, and global precipitation patterns.
We have the ability to build accurate paleoclimate models and interact the data with current and predicted data points.

Unfortunately with the increase of calving events on the ice sheets much of the data is lost; however, there are still other means to determine signature events with respect to climate.

Need more Scientific American :thumbup

Skeptics often point out "there is still lots of debate in the scientific community" as if that means we don't actually know if anthropogenic global warming is a real phenomenon. Of course there's debate. It wouldn't be science if it weren't; it would be religion.

However, the debate is on the details not the big picture. It's as if geologists debating the rates of a erosion of a mountain somehow put into question the existence of the mountain itself.
 
Well shit im not a skeptic so i dont know!?!? Wouldnt surprise me if humans were screwing shit up, and it wouldnt surprise me if mother nature rules all of our dumb asses.:twofinger
