What's your favorite poverty meal that you still eat regardless of where you are financially?

Ramen
Poached eggs
Costco rotisserie chicken
Spinach

For packaged ramen, there’s hundreds of nice choices at the Asian market.

Turkey thighs and lamb shanks are cheap cuts of meat that turn out great in a slow cooker. Leftovers mean the next meal is free!

I still love turkey necks, and the best part is that the foodie crowd hasn’t discovered them yet, so they’re still dirt cheap. I’m still pissed off at how much oxtail costs these days. Oxtail used to be awesome poverty food.

I always cook that turkey neck and bag of giblets for the pooches on thanksgiving. Every year I try a little bit of it and the neck doesn't seem to have much to it. I guess you eat it like corn on the cob? I'm sure it'd be great to flavor a stew with.

My old wt fude is cottage cheese and ketchup.

Smoked ham hocks and beans.
In a crock pot, 4-6 smoked ham hocks on the bottom
Add a diced onion and green pepper
1 lb pack beans of choice
1 box of beef stock or 4 cups of beef bullion cube with water-not sure of amounts, doesn't really matter
Add enough water to cover everything
Eat in 8 hours.

Chili mac - can of chili, macaroni, and cheese. No, not the blue box crap. I mostly eat this on camping trips. But I’ve def had it at home a few times.

I love me some beef top ramen. I cook some veggies first and chicken then start the water add some beef stock to the water along with an asian seasoning blend and some sesame oil. that shit is great but makes the heart go pitter patter with all the lovely sodium.....You can delete ingredients as money goes away.

I don't eat it anymore because I don't think you can still get it... but gubment cheese and butter blocks made absolutely the best grilled cheese sammiches ever. I've had fancy gourmet grilled cheeses and the stuff I got when I was poor was the best.

Top Ramen (shrimp or beef flavor)
- but now I add some mango jalapeno sausage and an egg or two, and crushing some cheez-its (the hot tabasco ones) on top is pretty bomb

Basic eggs and potatoes for breakfast skillet is always good regardless of income

Smoothies for lunch (frozen fruit, yogurt, juice, protein powder)

Also the latest fad with "intermittent fasting" - bish that's just a normal day for a lot of people.

Chunky peanut butter right out of the jar.

My office staple.. grab a spoon and smoosh into mouth.

I'm notorious for scooping out some peanut butter and then dipping right into the jar of jelly.

Fuck yo bread. :laughing

Classic hobo trick, spoonful of peanut butter with a slice of bread wrapped around it into a ball. Fills you up and a jar/loaf can feed you for up to a week.
