When did the f*cking airlines start charging for carry-on bag?

Airfare got cheaper, unless you need your carryon, in which case you're paying $100 more for your round trip AND you have to wait at the baggage claim for your bag.

Also, you have to accept wtf seat they feel like assigning to you

I mean. I honestly haven't seen a big shift in like, Normal flights? I'm not a total road warrior, but I do fly domestically for work between 4-9 times a year.

At least Delta, JetBlue, Breeze and Air Canada have the decency to get the Airbus A220. So much nicer than the ancient 737 no matter the upgrades.

Delta is the only one with the A220-100 (nearly half their A220 fleet) version with this rear lavatory. LOL

I’ve always said I’d like to fly 1st class at least once in my life but when I book a flight, which isn’t often, and see the prices the cheapskate in me overrules that thought.

I don't want some rando bird flying by and seeing my bare ass as I do the necessary on a plane. :rant

It is nice up there. When I was a serious road warrior quite a few years back I got some free frequent flyer upgrades and it was pretty good. One time my step son got upgraded for free with me as I had bought both tickets.

Wait until you hear about airlines charging you for printing a ticket or speaking to their agent at the airport.
Or you can download their app and do everything on there for free*.

*fuck your privacy

Charging for Seat Selection has been pretty typical for at least a year
Typical for 3- or 5 or more years, at least in my experience

Of course you could just have them assign one...

Yeah I thought JetBlue charged you for things like these - unless you used an app. (I don't love JetBlue. :dunno nor do I need it.,..I think)

As for people with oversized carry-ons and no check-in separate bag....yeah maybe the charge is deserved

Are any of you familiar with the economics concept called consumer surplus? Airlines have been at the leading edge of extracting that shit for years. This is just another instance.

Maybe, I can't say I have not watched that close. I don't fit on airplanes. My rules has always been Aisle Seat or it isn't my flight, and usually I pay for the Upgrade to Business class if it is reasonably priced on boarding day, which tends to give the best rate when available. The net is I have been having to pay extra to meet my particulars for a long time, but I have driven from one end of the us to the other many times, I have very little patience for road trips. Teeny Tiny Cattle Cars it is.

Flew United (which I hate) to Burbank and back last week. No Baggage fee for my carry on in Economy.

United doesn't charge a carry-on fee. For some fares (basic economy) they simply entirely prohibit carry-ons.

United caused me to miss my connecting flight on my flight home, they were over an hour late.
This was the last flight to Fresno, they offered me no place to stay, no communication at all. I had to wait around in the air port until 7:00 am flight to LA then another flight to Fresno, then they screwed up my forced check-in with my carry-on and despite a 2 hour layover in LA they didn't manage to get the bag to the flight, so I had to wait 2 days to get my bag.
Yeah, fuck United.

Also, on the way out, I had to sprint 200m to catch my flight to Boston at SFO, getting to it as they were shutting the doors, because after pulling away from the terminal, we sat on the tarmac for over 40 minutes before taking off, then after landing we waited over 10 minutes to cross the runway then wait over 10 minutes before they opened the door.

Just plain shitty service both directions.

I live there and the schools and sports are far, far superior to most of the Bay Area. Little traffic and the part of the city I live in there are no homeless people.

It is like you have never even been to Marin, lol.

I lived in Marin for 4 years, 2 in Sausalito and 2 in Corte Madera in the mid 90's.
One thing I despised while I was there was the volvo drivers who probably became the prius drivers.
