AREWEEZEE! Still need more hints?
Anyone know of any great places for sushi? No supermarket sushi, all you can eat, or chinese, korean, or filipino made sushi. Pref in San Francisco.

Fuki Sushi is in PA as well - awesome stuff.

I like Tomo Sushi down here in SJ - Just north of Blossom Hill on Snell.

[btw]Valgar is a sick puppy[/btw] :laughing

The Benihana in Burlingame is all-you-can-eat for $20. I think it's really good and you select from the same menu. Perhaps the Benihana in Japantown offers the same thing??

The best sushi I've eaten is in Berkeley, called Kirala, on Shattuck Ave. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed. Genuine Japanese owners.

I know you said San Francisco, but everytime I've been to San Diego I get the best sushi I've ever had in my life. I dont' know what they do or where they buy, but it's awesome. Even the cheap places have great quality fish.

...anyone else notice this?

Kirala, per Donoman's suggestion, is pretty good.

If you are looking for a sushi chef who is trained in Japan with a long family business in handling fish:

Hamano Sushi
1332 Castro St.
San Francisco

Ask for a seat in front of Hiro at the sushi bar. The restaurant is owned by Chinese, but Hiro is the head sushi chef there. Let him choose for you. By the way, he doesn't do rolls. First grade fish and cut. Pricey though... It can run anywhere between $70 to $100 for two. Hiro is off on Tuesday and Wednesday.

If the foofoo rolls and dead fish are your cup of tea, go where the other clowns have suggested:teeth

Depends on what time of year.. we're in tuna season here in the bay area, so I'd bet the maguro would be higher quality here. In the netherlands/scandinavia/etc, you're going to have the best quality salmon you've ever had.. Just all depends where the fishies are swimmin :D

That is NOT me in the avatar!!!!

Keep telling yourself that...

In PA, it's all about Jediah Sushi. Parallel to University near middlefield...

I drive to Santa Cruz when ever i crave sushi .... Pink Godzilla ....love that place ..even better when you just finish surfing ......on 41st ave .....

my favorites in SF are Saji's (marina) (saji and tomo will drink with you at the bar while making the sushi) :thumbup and Ebisu (sunset)

Sushi groove in russian hill is also good, but I think the prices are a little high for the shitty service.

I second that.:thumbup just make sure you get there early.

Hey thanks for all the input, I did go to Kirala in Berkeley and I have to be honest with you I thought it was a really great place.

Depends how much money you would like to spend.

If you want the best sushi go to the place located on 9th Avenue and Iriving in the Sunset. Tasty stuff, but it is pricey. If you want more of a casual place go to the place on 17th Avenue and Irving called "IchiBonCon" something like that. It is a small , family owned place and the food is superb. Very reasonable prices. Tell them Igor send ya, hehe.

Another Kirala fan here. I know folks like Ebisu (on 9th, near Irving), but I don't like it that much for some reason.

My regular sushi joint is Nagano Sushi on Geary between 2nd and Arguello. You'll find me there once a week and I don't even live or work in the city. :)
