So I went in a 'small' ride today and ended up in LA. :)
Can anyone suggest any places to ride while here? Not looking for any twistiest but any scenic places?

Thanks

Angels Crest, PCH come to mind. Any of the canyons along the coast off of PCH.

Latigo Cyn Rd. around the corner from Mulholland Hwy.

Decker Canyon (Hwy 23) cool road with no cops on it..

You ask for scenic and not twisty... Go the Griffith Park Observatory, it is up in the Hollywood hills just opposite the large Holly Wood sign. You can tour the Observatory, look through the "big eyes" down at Hollywood etc.

Leading into the Rock Store is not without curves but not the most technical. It is up beyond the Rock Store where the idiots go to crash.

As far as twistys go, the roads leading into and out of Newcombs Ranch are some of the best in the world. It will be 50 miles of 70mph sweepers with 140mph straights threading up along the crest of the Forrest range. Beautiful valleys and views as you rip along. The road in many places is 3 and 4 lanes wide (2+1 or 2+2, North South) Go during a weekday like a Tuesday or Wednesday to cut down on the weekend ricky racer traffic.

Gotta check out Rim of the World Highway(hwy 18)! Take 210 to 18, and you can ride all the way out to Big Bear or turn left at Running Springs and take 330 back to 210. If it's clear you can see 60 miles to the ocean.

No twisties? Weird thing to request. You'll not want this, then.

Aside from Angeles Crest Hwy and Mulholland Hwy to the beach there's not a lot of great canyon riding in LA.

Angeles Crest Hwy (SR-2)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angeles_Crest_Highway

Mulholland Hwy
http://www.lateralg.org/roads/orange/malibu1.htm

Down south towards San Diego there's Ortega Hwy SR-74.

Up north towards Ojai there's Hwy-33 and Lockwood Valley Road to Frazier Park.

Actually there is if you have a guide. The Malibu canyons, offer some great riding.

If you are south of L.A. and end up somewhere in Orange County, you can take Ortega to Lake Elsinore. at the top there is a couple places to stop and eat, and a look out on the east side.
Another suggestion is making your way to Palomar. This is where kawasaki and honda test all there prototypes. It is one of the most technical roads down there with many decreasing curves and all types of cambers. Warning, there is always someone going down because they are novices or someone going too slow. It is heavily patrolled by plane, car and bikes by CHP.
other places would be Big Bear east of LA or Ojai north of LA.

stay away from santa monica mountains on weekends. squid season has started. latigo and decker (23) is fun if you're on a small/light bike (sumos). roads are very narrow.
glendora moutain road/azusa canyon is closed to the east LA county.

bigger bikes will like angeles forrest/big tujuanga/Angeles crest or hwy 33 (ventura/kern county). much higher speeds.
