where to stay in Lee Vining?

Just be sure you get all the food and/or booze that you want before 10pm. The town literally shuts down.

lee vining is expensive for what you get. keep riding to bridgeport, topaz lake, etc for a cheaper room

You could ride out to Hawthorne, NV to the El Capitan Hotel and Casino for the small town Nevada experience :toothless

Bodie, yeah I hope you are riding enduro style bike because Bodie is at the end of 12 miles of dirt/rock road. I did a honeymoon via bikes and we stayed in Lee Vining and had a sandwich in the little park there. Here was a guy with his little tool box taking the driving lamps, or what was left of them off the front of the station wagon. It seems that he thought the paved road was going all the way he was clocking about 70 when he hit the first gravel dirt section and slammed his front splash pan and driving lights, on the the other side of a pot hole. Whiile I was talking to him I asked him if he was going on to Wally World, he got the joke and cracked up. I have been to Bodie on both roads yes there are two ways to get there, both of them are tough.

I found the ride on the gravel road to be easy. I was flying along at about 45mph. Sure, the bike didn't like it too much, and it gets a little sideways in the corners, but its super fun. Just scan carefully for unusually large bumps and holes (I almost lost my passenger on one).
