Which way does that front wheel point?

Lotta different ways to skin a cat. Neither are right or wrong, just different.

And yeah, I think I've seen that video 8 or 9 hundred times now.

The real difference is that the way he's flinging the bike back and forth around those cones, there isn't time to slide his butt back and forth and stick his knees out.
Knee dragging just isn't possible in that situation. So, yes in that case it is wrong.

Somehow .... it seems like bikers that ride on the public road...with clip-on handle bars...just can't grasp the concept of the why of Motocross racers, and Flat Track racers, and SuperMoto Racers,
(that do the extreme moves) sitting like they do, with the handle bars they have, to do it.

Like the public road isn't the collection of the shabby-est surface conditions and vehicles mis-behaving, highest risk elements to deal with.

To be honest, I don't quite see how weaving around cones at lean angles that border on too far would translate all that well to real-world situations. The avoidance maneuvers I've had to use have almost always been a quick right/left/right or left/right/left change of position that could be accomplished without leaning the bike anywhere near its limit.

I would like to see how that guy does entered in a US sports car club type autocross though.
I have a feeling he'd embarrass most of the people I see in those events.

Watch his hips and shoulders.

Repost or not it is some serious skills and I assure you a sudden hazard on the road will not put that rider on his ass.

Yeah, I wasn't talking about that situation. I recognize that hanging off and dragging knee is not the fast way around in those competitions. As did Sanjuro when he made his comment. I was responding to what he was insinuating, not to the video.

If you think that video demonstrates rear wheel steering, I don't think you even know what those words mean.

:laughing Of course That's Your take on it...A dirt bike rider wouldn't know what rear wheel steering is :laughing

And...I might as well include...Rough old mountain roads,, with switchbacks...front wheel may or may not be hooked up...so don't trust it to be...steer with the rear wheel.

Bother to look at my Avatar? He is going around a corner, hard on the Gas, front wheel in the air.

Rear wheel steering.

But this is coming from a guy (that would be You) that said the first generation ZX-10, is one of the most forgiving Sport bikes out there...:rofl

Dude are you on crack? Nowhere in that video does his front wheel leave the tarmac, nor does he ever do any rear wheel steering.

And that last part - who are you talking about? Care to link me a statement that I've made about a ZX-10, because I don't recall ever referring to that bike on this forum. Ever. I think you're confusing me with one of your imaginary friends.

I didn't read the thread, but my front wheel points down (always) and mostly forward (usually).

THIS is what rear wheel steering looks like

I was going to argue that the OP's video didn't show any counter-steering, but I knew what that would get me. After seeing this video, I think it validates my opinion on the OP's video.

You'll notice in Lazerus' video the rider's doing nothing but counter-steering. Great example.

seein' as he is not coasting around those turns, he must be using rear wheel steering.
