That is to say you've bought or have a beater pile of a car you hardly ever drive and 1 to 3 bikes of your choosing or no car and a small stable of bikes.

I can imagine there is a minority of crazy people among the crazy.

contemplating this jump, more so because I love riding more than I hate cars.

thnx.

Got rid of my car over a year ago and have been on 2 wheels ever since. I have no desire to get another cage.

I went without a car for three summers and two winters once as a necessity and enjoyed it-until the beginning of the third winter. 27 degrees at 7AM made me happy to have a heater back. :blush
Oh ya, that and it was a $50 dollar car. LOL

I sold my only car about a month before I bought my bike. I bought the bike, and just haven't had the need to buy another car.

No car either......just my bike...... i do miss the heated seats... and the radio, but i dont think im getting a car anytime soon.

I was bike only for eight years. From 19 till I was 27. Didn't really miss having a car at the time. But now I really like my car. And my truck. It's chilly out. :teeth

Was bike-only from (this is creepy) 19 to 27 too...

And in the UK. Where it rains more in a day in June than it does here all year :twofinger

man. save financial issues, i'm seriously this close to trade in my car or for another bike. Its not even the whole "hardcore real-rider" appeal either. I seriously feel my brain just isn't wired for a cage. Somewhere along the line within the one year of riding, i get the notion that cage is the mobile-cubicle and the bike is a classroom.

I think its the reptilian-brain trying to make amends with the chimp portions of myself, minus the poop throwing.

guh...

Ever since my water pump went out on my Taurus Sho two weeks ago I've been all about the bike. I have an Rx7 but it's my project/neglected car....

well... I converted to riding as my main transportation. Not really as hardcore as some here. :)

Still have the car, but it broke down a few months back. Now, I only drive the wife's car if I need to buy/carry something big.

Nah, I still have my car and have no intentions of getting rid of it. Why go either way when you can have both. With the car and motorcicle you have options. There is no way I'm taking public transit either, to unreliable and slow. If I don't make it to work or somewhere, I have no one to blame but myself.

I bought a tire on my bike today and wore it like a hoola hoop from richmond to martinez.

If you really NEED a car, that's what girlfriends are for. For riding, and borrowing their car.

I can't say I ever need a car though. I haven't needed to haul anything large in a while, and the rain and cold isn't scary.

My Camaro caught fire in 1999 (a professional stereo installer did it) and I could never love another car. I took my insurance money and bought a Virago 250. Commuted on it, traded up and up and up... TL1000s, SV650, a number of ratbikes, and the Duc. Didn't have a car for six-seven years.

A couple of times my girlfriend would leave me her car if I had to carry a lot of sh*t to work, and my uncle gave me a free truck once, but I left it in LA.

I had/have good rain gear (tip: the Brits know their rain gear), and I enjoyed grocery shopping on the bike (tip: tortillas don't smush like bread and it's smaller). I also had a skateboard and a bus pass for the last couple of years.

A few years ago I had my skull broken in an assault and I wasn't allowed to wear a helmet for a few months, so I bought an old SuperBeetle, but I'm all better and it's parked in my folks' garage, non-op.

It's not too hard to go bike only. Takes some balls on certain days. But if I could do it on a Ducati and a TL, not the most practical bikes, then you should be able to. Helps to have a ratbike if you're going to park in a bad neighborhood.

if it weren't for those of us with both bike and car, every single cager out there would be the enemy to motorcyclists everywhere. As it is now, at least some of us in cages are friends; we actually look for motorcyclists.

.

i'm down grading my car cause i barely use it anymore...maybe once or twice a week... and this is still my first year on my bike... it'll get used less as time goes on...
