OK guys ... this is a sounder to see if there is a racer that might be keen on this offer. I'm offering it as business deal for me come chance in a lifetime for one of you guys, but to be honest it's only a concept at the moment.

Where and when ?
1/ February 21/22 at our legendary Pearoa Street Circuit in the North Island . This is not for the faint hearted but it's not insane like the IOM. It's a short circuit in the centre of a small town in the North Island .... the Sadowsky(?) boys raced it this year and loved it. It's awesome, fast, exciting, sphincter clenching racing in it's rawest form ....... barring catasrophy, which we all risk on a race weekend anyway (especially you guys with your packed grids), you will remember this experience forever.

2/ 3 days later we head down to the South Island to race in the annual Sound of Thunder meeting on 27/28th /1st at a track called Ruapuna in the city of Christchurch. Magnificent scenery on the way down including a 4 hour ferry crossing (about a 18hr trip total) plus lots of track time at the best track in NZ. Great meeting for alot of genuine BEARs enthusiasts .... this meeting is all about Ducs, aprillas, ktms, triumphs, buells, etc .... awesome racing, laid back, great socialising, well run and lots of track time.

The bike ?
OK ... it's an oldie but a goodie. completely fresh, sorted and tricked out 748/853. Makes about 120 rwhp and has all the bits that matter. At Paeroa we would race in the BEARs class but also is eligable for F2, which is against 600's. At Ruapuna we race in the F1 class against all sorts. ie F2 is air cooled 2 valves etc

The cost ?
Not including your airfare I figure about $6KUS to cover everthing relating to the racing. Bike use, tyres, fuel, entry, accomodation (with me and friends).

Details to be confirmed .... this is only an idea at the moment but we would need to act fast.

It is compelling that you have chosen to post up at BARF concerning your idea......how many other forums have you posted this on?

Ill race it, but you have to pay for everything and if I win I get to keep all the earnings and the bike. :teeth

Norcalboy ..... none yet. I've been a member on barf for a few years so thought I'd post here first.

Triple R .... yeah, right !!! :rofl

Actually Eddy, you should go, You'd love it!

NorCalBoy-- Ed is for real. I went over a couple of years ago on his inspiration. He's good friends with Go-Go as well.

Ed-- Thanks for the invitation. hmmph. :twofinger
Now that you got that thing to run, you're going to loan it out???

Thanks for the plug Dave ... and, yeah I'm pretty cagey about "hiring" (as opposed to "loaning" :rolleyes) the thing out.
As I said, it's an oldie, but it's got plenty of class and a heap of very trick go fast goodies on and in it.

Basically, I built it up from spare parts so I could race in two classes here at club level, but for the two race weekends I'm talking about in Feb that's not practical.

So I figure, why not make this offer .... I would expect to make a little out of it to cover my hassles, wear and tear etc ... but more than anything just giving a fellow racer from your way the opportunity is my main motivation .......as long as it doesn't cost me money cos man .... I ain't got any spare !!!
I'm just a club racer with a spare bike.

BTW Dave, did you get my last email ?

ILOAD2 .... here is a link to the street race

www.battleofthestreets.co.nz

For the SOT meeting search for Ruapuna Raceway in Christchurch, New Zealand. There are diagrams of the track on the site.

Thanks Ed..I have been watching the vids I found online over the last few minutes...

My God! Its Exactly like racing through Capitola village! (small town a few miles from me)

Front runners are definitely hauling ass!

That's right up my ally -crosswalk lines and bumps and 1 lane wide!

Wow a offer for a real roads race in New Zeland!:shocker That sounds like a once a lifetime chance. Extra-specially for those who still dream of one day entering the IOM.

I'd jump all over an opportunity to race over seas if the money was there and I wasn't already contemplating an AMA superstock debue. Hope you find a good racer to go on this trip. If I manage to rob a bank over the holidays I'll be sure to give you a call.

I want to do this!! I'll ride that bike!!

I might not win but I'll place..

Matt, awesome video .... I don't go as fast as you but I know and felt every bump and dip as if I was riding it again. Can't wait for next years race !!

You may remember me ... we took a pic of you, Dave and myself next to my Duc to send to Craig and posted it here ...... mine was the little gazebo behind where you guys were pitted.

Ironbutt ...... in the BEARs race at the street race a good rider with skill and big balls will have a very good chance of placing on this bike even against the later model machines.
Like I alluded to earlier, this is no stock 748/853 ... it has all the go fast goods to make it competitive.
In the F2 race against modern 600's ... not much chance of a podium there.

Down at Ruapuna for the SOT (Sound of Thunder) .... it's a riders track so again, skill is the criteria.

To anyone considering this .... act fast because entries close mid Jan.

Good times...If i had the money I would go in a heartbeat Ed is awesome and I hear NZ not to bad as well!! :) Ed I want IN!! :) -Craig

Hey Craig .... yeah it sucks that nobody seems to have spare money these days.
Actually ...... don't think I've ever had any .... especially after I started racing again !!

Unfortunately this is just an offer for someone who can pay their own way and I hope have a hell of an experience.

Anyway ..... it was just an idea so I thought I'd check what the reaction would be.
