Whole Grain Pasta

I must be the only one who likes the whole-wheat version. Just like with bread, I feel like I am eating something with WW. The white stuff is just a medium, not much flavor.

The trader joes whole wheat stuff tastes just fine. Better than some 'fresh', artisan, still-soft pasta I've overpaid for.

Thanks for the original answer and all the input and suggestions. I value all of these opinions and knowledge. I will probably try the TJ Whole Wheat one. If it doesn't suit my palate I'll do the high quality regular stuff.

I've already cut my portions of everything. I used to have heartburn everyday, really bad heartburn. I was using the OTC heartburn meds everyday and couldn't go without. I can definitely say that I've completely cut the heartburn out (even with coffee and vodka)! I guess I was just having acid reflux all the time from basically overeating? :dunno

I'm amazed that I can go without the heartburn meds now! I'm not really that overweight either, but I've got another 10 lbs. to go to reach my fight weight. :laughing

I can't stand all these new foods coming out. I guess I'm old but I like the regular stuff.

Regular frigging pasta ok. Not whole wheat. Not gluten free. Stuff taste like crap. I'd rather chew on the box it came it. Same result.

Regular frigging bread ok. White or wheat is fine. Not 7 ground intense bread with bird seed all over it either.

If I have to chew it like 60 times before I swallow then I'm bored outta my mind.

Thanks for letting me rant :)

And buy the regular frigging toothpaste crest like momma use to buy.

Whole wheat pasta, whole wheat anything, is a joke. In most cases, its glycemic index varies from the ordinary "white" product by single-digit percentage.

huh?

you're thinking of multi grain

fwiw - you should check the ingredients list or find labels that say 100% whole wheat, otherwise you fall in the "Dr. Evil" trap where it isn't sufficiently different to make a difference.

Harvard Medical School said:
The average glycemic index of whole-wheat pasta is 32, compared with white pasta, which has an average GI of 42.

Bread made with 100 percent whole-wheat flour has a GI of 51 while bread made with white wheat flour has a GI of 71.
