I don't understand when I see riders that took their mirrors off. you can't see whats going on in the lane next to you, or behind, or what is happening when traffic is coming to a stop and people are behind you. it seems like it could make for some dangerous situations.

:squid's

taking off your mirrors adds some serious horsepower, doesn't everyone know this?

saw it today on an obviously rebuilt bike, everything was perdy and nice expect for the huge grinding down of the triple clamps from a wreck. took about 3/8" of metal off the corner of one of them. newly repainted, all flush LED lights, undertail kit on an 07 ZX6r

well as someone who took his mirrors off i ll give you my answer. the mirrors on a 1000rr are useless:wtf in order to see anything behind you you have to get yourself into a position thats not safe and even then you cant see. In my opinion it's much easier to turn your head and look then use the mirrors, and then you see whats really going on behind or on the side of you and not what you percieve you see in the mirror.

but hey thats just me:thumbup

First off like spddrcr said most mirrors on new sportbikes are useless. I took mine off and replaced with CRG bar-end mirrors and have loved it ever since. When out rippin the twisties I find it nice not to have anything in front of you obscuring your view of the road ahead. The barend mirrors offer much better visibilty when I do want to see behind me. I also never fully trusted mirrors and always opted for a quick head check when switching lanes anyway.

Then there is the looks factor. Call me a squid if you like but IMO my bike looks 100 times better without the "rabbit ears".

I think he's talking about guys that take the stock mirrors off and don't replace them with anything.I've had bar end mirrors on a bike too,but having no mirrors screams squidiot.

i'm not sure about this but i think you're required to have at least one mirror on your bike. i remember reading somewhere that a cop was just cruising behind this guy and it took the guy a long time to figure out he was being pulled over.

It makes them go faster. :rofl

Enjoy your tickets, folks. I'll keep using my mirrors. I can see enough if I adjust them the right way.

I love riding without mirrors. But I hate having to turn around every 30 seconds to scan my rear. So I leave my mirrors on.

If you listen to anything i say off this community, this should be one of the to listen:

Anything helps while your on a bike to look at ur surroundings. You may think it does not really help, but even those little duck mirrors show something.

99% of the time people do it for looks. they think it looks like more of a pro racer and we all are somewhat of a poser. hehe

I hate my mirrors on my F4i but they are there and the law says I have to have them so I use them and still turn my head. Its not that hard to do both it is only your life on the line .

They got the looks that kee-el...

that Kee-hill!!!!

They! Got! the looks! That Kill!!

ive been riding for close to 18 years and never before this bike have i taken mirrors off a bike, now i didnt mention the bike was mirrorless as i have some small button mirrors on the edge of the upper fairing that i can use if i have to, but in my opinion it is much safer to turn your head and look then use the stock mirrors that came on the bike.

If the stock mirrors suck... put on some that don't. And leave them on until then, it's better than nothing. The bike looks much prettier with stupid stock mirrors on its ears than it would with an SUV-- or a ticket-- up its ass.

While I'm a passenger, I have all the freedom to stare backwards that I could possibly want. I'm not even driving, dammit, and I STILL wish I had some mirrors!

Yo them mirrors have like square foots of frontal surface area, that what sucks all your horse power, I took that shit right off, that right thur is the problem why my ride wont do 160.

Because the 1/2 lb is slowing them down...
Because they don't need to check the mirrors , so why have them?

what do you care if riders have mirrors or not.... :rolleyes
these threads are just as annoying as "i saw a rider with no gear"

oh btw, I take mine off cause I think it looks better

Q. Why do people take their mirrors off?

A. For the same reason I put a sweatshirt on over my leather jacket.

(It gives you something to bitch about and it gives me something to read on BARF) :laughing :twofinger
