Honestly OP, when that happens to me (not THAT close mind you) I just turn around and glare through my tinted visor, for all they know I could be picking my boogers with my tongue, but they'll never know! It is very annoying when it happens though. The pulling close part, not the booger picking
 
What the driver did was really annoying.

Of course, you were asking to be shot in the face.

You are gambling that the driver was a pussy who waving your finger at would shut him down. And it did.

It could have easily escalated, from the driver getting out to him running your bike over.

When you get off your bike, you are asking for trouble.

As much as I hate to admit it, I would have done something similar to what the OP did.

It would be really interesting to have been hooked up to all sorts of monitors in real time to see the flood of flight or fight chemicals that were activated right then. I totally understand the situation. Chemicals activate manual override and shuts down frontal lobes....

During my days living in Houston during the height of its crime wave back in the late 80s/early 90s, when everyone was driving with guns in their cars, there was a comical road rage story on the news. Two trucks get into it on I45 north, rage ensues, guys in one of the trucks flash a gun up intending just to scare the other guy. Other guy evidently has a gun of his own, big one, puts a bullet hole the size of a golfball through the driver's door, bullet travels across both of their laps without striking either and exits the passenger door. They interviewed the guys on the news and showed the truck with two big holes in it. Ya just never know.

In Houston the cops told us to carry guns in our cars and a few of them advised my wife to keep a .22 in her purse. I never went anywhere without my 9mm in the console of my truck.

You can't even transport a restricted firearm in Canada without a special permit. e.g. I had one to transport it to and from the range, but if I wanted to say, take it to a gunsmith, I'd need to call and get a one time permit just for that.

I'm not trying to say Canadian gun laws are better or worse than American ones, simply that firearm violence is quite rare whilke since moving to California I've been told not to do "x, y or z" "'cause you might get shot".

BTW in this East Bay crappy situation the driver was REALLY too close. See it again, he's literally IN the motorcycle, UNDER the rear seat, because that's what it takes to be that close to the rear wheel. Cut the OP some slack due to this closeness.

Driver was a db.

Seems like riding inconsiderately was probably the cause - justified or not. Hard not to escalate these things further.

Luckily I think he took pleasure out of pissing you off. As others said, he could have been some bad ass mf - lucky for you he was just a db.
