Why is this in my Icon jacket?

I can't stand their visual style, but I've never been anything but impressed with Icon's engineering. I had the Squad 2 backpack for a while, and it was absolutely the most solid moto backpack I'd ever seen.

Eye heart my Icon jacket and naked lady helmet.
:twofinger if they dont :teeth

So is that it then? Am I wearing a scarlet "I" in the eyes of the other riders on the road when I rock this thing? As if my squidish parking through twisties wasn't eyeroll-worthy enough. :applause :|

ICON is totally cool dude. You should get one of their awesome helmets to go with your jacket.

So being one month new into motorcycling and, subsequently, this forum... i've been noticing a fair amount of mockery toward the brand. ... plus I wasn't aware of the squid stigma that was attached to the brand during my online shopping spree(s)

Icon identified a market segment to address, and came up with a brand identity and a product offering and marketing campaign to address it. Essentially their segment is riders who don't wear gear because it costs money and doesn't make them look cool (in their minds). It was an unaddressed market. Icon addressed it by coming up with gear that those folks would think is cool, thus making them willing to part with their hard earned cash to wear Icon.

It has the added benefit of "signalling" - meaning that when you wear their stuff you make a statement that enables other riders to avoid you or to reach out to you based on that self-identification. Birds of a feather, or squids of a tentacle as the case may be. :p

I guess I really don't care all that much... the jacket is comfortable, functional and stylish imo. But it would be interesting to know what the current consensus is toward Icon jacket quality today...

Originally, IMHO, I think their quality wasn't really there. It was all about the look. Nowadays, I hear they're making a good product, which is a good thing in my book.

But I still wouldn't wear any piece of clothing that had some damned brand name emblazoned ½ way across it. :twofinger

Absolutely love my TiMax gloves. As for St Christopher, Hey every little bit helps. I have had My Busa blessed by a Priest, a Tibetan Monk, and I keep a little Buddha figure on it as well.
And if you are that worried about religious symbols and such

ICON made the best pair of gloves I've ever owned or even SEEN. After multiple years and crashes in them, they're finally worn out and no longer in production and I just don't know what the hell to get anymore. EVERY other glove I've tried just seems flimsy and weak.

Eldritch, Check out Motorcyclegear.com (Newenough.com) they tend to have a lot of the older gloves in stock. and their prices are great

I have a couple of Icon jackets (Overlord Prime and Contra). Good quality, very comfortable, no issues so far. Both have the little medallion, too.

I bought a pair of their Superduty 4 boots when I first got into riding. They started falling apart 3 months in. Won't be buying a pair of their shoes/boots again.

meh - it's not my main jacket anyway... got it for those extra hot days. it's the only icon piece I own.

I got it for the extra cold days, since it has a full thermal liner. I use it to commute from time-to-time, too.

Somebody mention Gremlin Bells?
